An Algora porcelain figure of Charlie Chaplin, no. 159 of 250, 33.5 cm high, with accompanying certificate (walking stick af) The walking stick is broken in half, both pieces are present and can fit back together easily. Otherwise the figure is in very good condition. Would benefit from a dust, some light scratches to the stand and slight rubbing to the underside. No apparent cracks, chips, crazing or restoration.
Inert WW1 German 1916 Stick Grenade, shown on pages 118 and 121 of Feldzug 16. This model 1916 grenade with a good wood haft marked ‘5½SEK.AEG’, its head with good paint finish with the remains of its old paper label missing. Complete with its end cap and porcelain ball with string pull missing. Please note this item is empty and safe. Legal to own in the UK. We are not able to offer Post and Packing on this lot.
2x WW1 German Grenade Hafts, rare wood haft for the M.15 stick grenade marked 5½ SEK’ and a sectioned haft for an M.16 or 17, probably for ordnance training, which displays the method of the priming of the grenade. Markings on the grenade haft are ‘C.S.S.’ plus ‘SB.20.6½ 1.6’ complete with end cap, porcelain ball and string pull.
Rare Inert WW1 German 1915 Petard Raquette Type "Hairbrush" Grenade, very rare example of the primitive early forerunner to the German traditional stick grenade is this type based on the Petard Raquette type grenades issued to French soldiers in WW1. The steel metal box attached to a long wooden paddle handle. The grenade top is complete with the original card box which would have contained the explosive charge (now empty). Much of the original finish remains. An excellent period image of this grenade can be seen in the French book “Les Grenades Allemandes De La Grande Guerre” by Patrice Delhomme, on page 34. WW1 Period British Officers Travelling Picnic / Tea Set, an interesting gentleman’s travelling tea set retailed by Drew & Sons Piccadilly Circus, London. The set is housed in its original wicker carry case. Includes burner, stand, kettle, crockery, tea bag strainer, tins, etc. Gilt tooled leather liner to the lid of the case with brass match stick holder and striker. Possibly replaced leather closing straps but the original leather handle still in place. Good interesting set. You see many images of British officers in Trenches using similar sets to this example. Many officers purchased items of equipment like this before they left for the horrors of the front line. Drew & Sons operated in Piccadilly, London from the 1880’s up until 1914 when the company owner died, the business then re-located to Regent Street, so this set dates prior to 1915.
