A good German WWI and WWII father and son group of medals and insignia, to Karl (father) and Hans (son) Magnus; the father`s WWI group comprising 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class with award document dated March 1917, and 1939 bar to the Iron Cross with award document to Baubearbeiter dated September 1943, Hamburg Cross with citation dated February 1916, 1914-18 Honour Cross with swords and with award document dated 1934, and black wound badge, together with his Wehrpass for service in the Landsturm, dated March 1944 which contains confirmation of his entitlement to the above awards; the son`s WWII group comprising 1939 Iron Cross 2nd class with award document, War Merit Cross 2nd class with swords (incorrect ribbon), East Front medal, 25 years Faithful Service decoration, black wound badge with certificate, Infantry Assault badge with certificate and Close Combat Clasp with Certificate, the certificates variously named to Schutzen III/Ss-Pol. -Schtz-Rgt. 1, Obergefreiter SS-Pol Infanterie-Regiment 1, and SS Unterscharfuhrer 1/SS-Pol. Gren.Rgt.3, together with a promotion certificate from Rottwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei to Wachtmeister, dated September 1944, and Britische Zone Personal Ausweis (repaired); the medals and insignia attactively displayed in a glazed wooden case togehter with a Hamburg Cross holders old comrades cardboard badge dated 1934, various medal ribbon bars and buttonhole badges, stick pins with miniatures of the medals, a Mothers Cross in bronze with ribbon, and another badge. A 24 bore Day`s patent underhammer percussion walking stick gun, 35" overall, barrel 28", the action stamped "Day`s Patent" and B`ham proof and with brass plaque embossed with the Royal Arms and "Day`s Patent, Hubbard, 126 Newgate St", folding trigger, plain wood handle, with threaded hole for shoulder stock. An elegant Malacca walking stick bearing a sterling silver plaque which reads: "Presented to Harry Lauder, from the daughters of Caledonia and Caledonian Club, Dallas, Texas, Jan 7 1918." Lauder(1870-1950) who made in his time up to six storming tours of America, I believe, is probably Scotland`s most successful musical/comedy star. He appeard later to have used the stick regularly. When presented with it, he was still ordinary Mr Lauder until knighted, for his services to WW1 troop entertainment, in 1919.
GOOD VICTORIAN SILVER DESK STANDISH, EDWARD AND JOHN BARNARD, LONDON 1866, the rectangular galleried stand with pen recess before twin pierced and beaded inkwells with hinged covers enclosing frosted glass liners, flanking a taper stick with detachable drip pan, the stand also with gadrooned borders and raised on leaf-capped scroll feet. 22cm by 15cm, gross 23oz

A 19th century cavalry officers sword, the 84cm. curved and fullered blade with etched decoration of military trophies and foliate scrollwork, having a brass triple bar knuckle guard, fishskin and wire bound grip, and oval pommel, contained in a polished steel scabbard, a silver mounted swagger stick with Royal Marine Artillery badge, together with a German World War II model 84/98 Mauser bayonet by Gottlieb, Solingen.
