An early 19th Century mahogany cased stick barometer and thermometer by Robert Carr Woods of 47 Hatton Garden, London, the silvered scale with vernier and alcohol thermometer, contained in case with moulded angular pediment, and chevron veneered base and turned cistern cover, 38ins high (majority of mercury missing, scale worn and generally in need of restoration). Note : "English Barometers 1680-1860" by Nicholas Goodison, published by Cassell, London 1969 - This maker at this address flourished circa 1830 and records that he was an original member of the Metereorological Society.
