A PAIR OF UPHOLSTERED PROGETTI OPEN ARMCHAIRS, ITALIAN, BY GIORGETTI, with rounded.arms, on tapering outsplayed legs (2). Giorgetti was established in 1898 in the heart of Brianza, just outside Milan. With its extremely elegant line, The Progetti collection is a series of armchairs and sofas born from the idea of Carlo Giorgetti, who took the cue from an elegant handle of an antique walking stick, to give life to the particular armrest that distinguishes it.

Four Amber bead mounted necklaces: of natural unheated Baltic amber and other beads. The first with 108 flat round beads graduated from 25.0mm diameter to 8.0mm diameter, composed of unheated natural Baltic amber beads, interspersed with other beads, 127.1gms gross. The second necklace with a fringe of graduated stick-like beads, graduated from 30mm long to 14mm long, composed of unheated natural Baltic amber, interspersed with other beads, 57.6gms gross. The third necklace of graduated irregular beads 76.5gms gross and the fourth necklace of mixed fragment beads, 63.5gms gross

A scarce Third Reich Knights Cross of the Iron Cross presentation document on vellum to (Oberstleutnant) Joachim Friedrich Huth, later Generalleutnant, dated 11th September 1940 (a German Battle of Britain pilot), in its red leather covered folder with gold blocked eagle and swastika to the front. The document in very good condition, the folder slightly scuffed. With a “Letter of Guarantee” from Adrian Forman, dated 1990. Huth’s entry in “Die Ritterkreuztrager der Luftwaffe” by Ernst Obermaier reads: “Fighter pilot in WWI. Led several fighter and destroyer Gruppen during the Luftwaffe’s build up and became Kommodore ZG26 in January 1940. He was awarded the Knight’s Cross for his Geschwader’s great successes during the French campaign and the Battle of Britain. Became Jafu 2 in 1941, then Kommandeur of the 1st Fighter Division until December 1943, 7. Jagddivision until November 1944 and I. Jagdkorps. Died on 27.3.1962”. A famous photograph shows Douglas Bader sitting in the cockpit of an Me 109 after his capture with a group of Luftwaffe officers looking up at him, and Huth apparently pointing a pistol at Bader. The “pistol” was in fact the handle of Huth’s walking stick! Plate 8
