A pair of vintage 20th century Beswick porcelain china figures to include a Beswick Pig Sow marked C.H. Wall Queen 40 with Beswick stamp to the underbelly and Beswick foil stick to body. Together with a Beswick Great Dane dog figurine marked C.H. Ruler of Ouborough to the underbelly. Measures 18cm tall. Good condition.

A Victorian mahogany cased marine Sympiesometer, inscribed J.W Plum, Sunderland, the mahogany case including a typical stick barometer, the scale engraved 27 - 31, with a lower applied sympiesometer glass and scale, with rotating and sliding scales, over a brass reservoir (no gimbal), 92cm high, 10cm wideA Sympiesometer is a compact form of barometer developed in 1818 for use at sea. Instead of just a column of mercury, it also has a tube containing oil and hydrogen gas to register changes in pressure, allowing the instrument to be reduced in size and convenient for using on ships.A near pair with the other example in this auction and from the same Scottish collectionCondition reportSliding scale loose inside the case front. Cattaneo of Folkestone, with engraved ivory scale and vernier and alcohol thermometer, contained in plain mahogany case with moulded pediment and moulded edge, and with exposed cistern, 39.5ins highCondition ReportThe mercury tube and alcohol thermometer are in good condition, the glass remaining intact. The lower left corner of the case shows a small area of loss to veneer, the small lower moulding to the lower part of the mercury housing is loose, and the timber beneath this (the left end of which shows the missing veneer) is similarly loose at the left end. There is some light scattered fading to the case but the case appears to retain its original polished surface. The thermometer ivory scale has a small area of cracking in two places to its lower edge. The lower timber moulding is loose.
