A Victorian oak hall stand, with all over carved detail, lion's head cartouche to the top rail, scrolling foliate decoration, set with eight coat hooks, a lidded glove compartment flanked by single umbrella or stick holders, the lower shelf inset with two metal drip trays, 94 by 31 by 204cm high.

A good antique Mah-Jongg set contained in a five-drawer lift-front hardwood case with metal bound corners and swing carrying handles and including 148 Bamboo backed dovetail joined tiles, 4 dice, 120 bone stick-like counters and a tiny turned drum-shaped lidded box containing four circular pieces with green painted recessed characters. Sold together with a booklet produced by Chad Valley: "Mah-Jongg, sometimes called Sparrow, Rules of the Game and how to play it" and one Hamley Bros and two type-written Score Cards. This Mah-Jongg set is described with a note found accompanying it as Ivory/Bamboo dovetailed and was purchased by the vendor's grandfather, one M.J. Carnegie in Johannesburg in 1935.
