A 1930's Chad Valley clipped pale golden mohair bear with an internal tumble bell, the body having jointed limbs with card filled velvet covered pads, the swivel head with long pointed stitched snout and glass eyes, height 12", missing an arm and label, together with a large post war wadding filled jointed clipped mohair bear and a small 1930's straw filled jointed bear, S/D.

*Perry (Fred, artist, 20th century). ‘Who Discovered the Pole?', c.1910, pen & watercolour humorous drawing showing four figures in bear-skins in an arctic camp, each with a b & w cut-out photo. applied to the face area, 330 x 470 mm, together with another similar showing the characters at a raceground entitled ‘Cauliflower wins the Ilford Plate', both framed and glazed. Captions written to the mount indicate that the caricatures refer to a Mr. W.Brown, J.Page, Horner, and some others who were presumably a group of friends who had these drawings made up to celebrate the fact. *Jonson (Ben, 1573?-1637). Autograph signature in an upright hand, "su[m] Ben: Jonsonij" ["I am Ben Jonson's"], n.d., cut from the corner of a book, the strip of paper measuring approx. 24 x 65 mm, pasted to a sl. larger piece of modern paper. Provenance: Archdeacon George Glover. A very rare specimen. St John's College, Cambridge University, holds three volumes which bear this latinised version of Jonson's autograph. (1)
Eight small bird/animal figures: a scalded cat, a mouse, a bear, a small hairy dog, a pheasant, a daschund, a gundog with a hare/rabbit in its mouth and two conjoined birds with hats, together with the following sundries: a thimble, a small box, a plated brooch, a pair of unmarked sleeve links, a plated coach, etc. (lot)
