There is one diamond missing and there is heavy repair work of lead solder to the reverse. One of the slides does not attach to the comb. Possibly adapted from a tiara, last quarter of the 19th century. Each have pin and revolver catches and two detachable tortoiseshell combs. They bear no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as silver and gold. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour I/J/K, clarity SI1/SI2/I1. Gross weight 30.9 grams. He studied Jewellery Design at the Fachhochschule fur Gestaltung in Pforzheim, Germany from 1976 till 1981 by Professor Reinhold Reiling. There is a small repair to the loop at the top of the earring with the onyx disc intact, the other has lead solder repairs in two places. They bear no hallmark nor stamp. dating: about 1860 provenance: Japan, Nagasa (38.3 cm) with hamon (gunome, kaninotsume) and hada clearly visible, brass habaki decorated with fine grooves; nakago mumei with a mekugi ana. Beautiful koshirae with tsuba richly pierced, also on the border, and decorated with floral motifs in gold. Fuchi decorated with a tower and mountains partially gilded, kashira in dark horn, menuki with dragons. Tsuka in dark silk. Saya of lacquered wood with dark horn mounts, the upper part with horizontal grooves in light brown lacquer, then smooth and with alternating dark and light brown rings. Ko-katana mei with shakudo kozuka depicting a bear and a dragon among palm trees and cherry trees in partially gilded high relief. The shape of the nakago indicates a period around the beginning of the 16th century. The hamon is similar to Suke Sada (Bizen) which used the Kaninotsume hamon (crab claws), but the type of hamon was also used in other schools at this time. length 56.5 cm.

Brass quillons, worked in relief (a small missing part on one quillon).Brass ring-nut and pommels decorated en suite. Faceted grips made of dark horn. White, fish-skin scabbards with pierced, brass mounts, one of the chapes is missing. length 58,7 - 59,8 cm.

dating: last quarter of the 16th Century provenance: Nuremberg, Smooth, two-stage, 12 mm cal. barrel, octagonal at the first part with Nuremberg stamp and, after ring, round; finely angled, smooth tang; flat plate lock with external, convex wheel, stamped with 'NK' among the effigy of glasses, with safety lock and snap pan cover, few engravings; wooden full stock richly decorated with bone tarsia depicting effigy of hunter on horseback, nobleman, eagle, bear and dog fighting, hounds, wild-boar and hare among hops and bands; flattened, spherical pommel depicting bust of a warrior with helmet; iron trigger and trigger guard; bone-tipped wooden ramrod. length 54 cm.

The magazine's use of visually striking graphic art and innovative printing techniques (including fold-out posters, metallic foils and new fluorescent inks), and provocative photographic images, was accompanied by equally provocative editorial content. Issue 28, May 1970 (the School Kids Issue), which included a very adult Rupert Bear cartoon strip, led to obscenity charges being brought against the three editors. The trial, held at the Old Bailey in 1971, was described by John Mortimer, counsel for the defence, as '...standing at the crossroads of our liberty, at the boundaries of our freedom to think and say and draw and write what we please'. The three were found guilty, but their convictions were overturned following appeal.John Lennon was one of the high profile supporters of the magazine and released the single God Save Oz in order to help raise funds for the magazine's defence.
