A Late 17th Century German Hunting Hanger, the 58.5cm slightly curved single edge steel blade with a narrow fuller to the top edge, engraved with crowned rampant lion, martial trophy and inscription "fur Gott und Das Vatterland", the brass stirrup hilt with a shell guard cast and chased with a deer or bear hunt, with down turned animal mask quillon and wood grip.

Vintage signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph of Drobny in a full length action pose during a match at Wimbledon in 1955. Signed in bold blue fountain pen ink across a light area of the image. Together with Ashley Cooper (1936- ) Australian Tennis Player, Wimbledon Champion 1958. Vintage signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph of Cooper in a full length action pose during a match at Wimbledon in 1957. Signed in blue fountain pen ink to a light area of the image. HANNA BILL (1910-2001) American Animator & BARBERA JOE (1911-2006) American Animator. A slim 4to colour printed cartoon strip entitled Quick Draw McGraw in Buried, neatly removed from a comic book, signed by both Hanna (who adds an inscription) and Barbera to a clear area at the head of the page. Together with a signed 8 x 10 photograph of Barbera in a head and shoulders pose. Signed in bold black ink to a light area of the image with his name alone. Also including a card signed in bold blue ink by Gene Hazelton, creator of a Flintstones and Yogi Bear comic strip. One corner crease to the photograph, G to VG, 3
LEONCAVALLO RUGGERO: (1857-1919) Italian Composer. A.L.S., Leoncavallo, on one side of a picture postcard depicting a performing bear, Viareggio, 6th March 1916 (`two days before my big celebration`), to Carlo Macchi, in Italian. The composer writes, in full, `I forgot to ask you in my long letter to please rush me as quickly as possible a libretto and score of Malbrouck which I need urgently.` About VG Malbrouck is an operetta by Leoncavallo that was first performed at the Teatro Nazionale, Rome, on 19th January 1910.
THATCHER MARGARET: (1925- ) British Prime Minister 1979-90. Collection of four individually signed First Day Covers, each with identical attractive colour illustrations commemorating the Direct Elections to European Parliament. The covers bear different postal cancellations, each dated 9th May 1979. Each of the covers are signed by Thatcher with her name alone in bold blue ink to clear areas. VG to EX, 4
GIBSON GUY: (1918-1944) British Airman of World War II, Wing Commander of 617 Squadron. Victoria Cross winner for his actions during Operation Chastise (The Dambusters Raid) on the Mohne and Eder Dams in Germany, 16th May 1943. Book signed, a hardback slim folio volume entitled Taoiseach-Then and Now by William Hugh Coverdale, being a history and narrative of the Kingdom of the Saguenay, the illustrated volume published in Canada, 1942. Signed (`Guy P Gibson`) and dated 22nd August 1943 in his hand to the front free endpaper. Gibson`s bold fountain pen ink signature appears at the head of nine other signatures by various other personnel associated with Operation Quadrant including Ernest J. King (1878-1956) American Admiral of World War II; Louis Mountbatten (1900-1979) British Admiral of the Fleet during World War II; William D. Leahy (1875-1959) American Admiral of World War II and George Marshall (1880-1959) American General of World War II, Nobel Peace Prize winner, 1953. Each of the signatures are in bold dark fountain pen ink. Together with a small, interesting selection of unsigned printed ephemera and 8 x 10 photographs (3) relating to Operation Quadrant, including a restricted Telephone Directory, 14th August 1943, (numbers include Guy Gibson, Anthony Eden, Ernest King, George Marshall, Louis Mountbatten, Dudley Pound, Charles Portal, Louis St. Laurent and many others), and other Most Secret documents relating to arrangements for office and sleeping accommodation, meals and refreshments, transportation and security during the meeting at the Chateau Frontenac Hotel in Quebec. Some of the items bear the ownership signature of Marjorie Lightning who is listed as a secretary in the typing pool of the British Delegation within the telephone directory.
