Some additional old dark scratches and dark stains to the top. Very good original surface, colour and rich patina. The timber of the top is a well selected cut, with what might be considered to be 'plum pudding' figuring. This is a genuinely unusual form of 'spider-leg' table. particularly with the inclusion of the 'cross' and peripheral stretchers. No breaks to legs or feet detected.Some small blocks to the underside of the top may possibly be replacements but they appear consistent with eachother and bear expected colour/ sign of age. A GEORGE III GILTWOOD HEART SHAPED GIRANDOLE MIRRORLATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY100cm high, 40cm wide, 23cm deepCondition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and useWear to the gilding. The mirror plates have age and bear expected depletion in the form of various 'spotting' and minor losses to silvering. Some old repairs. The mirror appears to have been restored overall perhaps 20-30 years ago and incorporated the gilding being refreshed to an 'antique' finish. Elements of the wires supporting decorative elements may have been restored/ replaced. Some of the other decorative elements may be well executed replacements such as the candle arms. The candle nozzles and drip pans are very likely later replacements/ additions. The inset rear panel to the mirror plate may be a replacement or was previously covered with paper. A QASHQAI RUG approximately 220 x 152cm Condition Report: Some wear consistent with age and use, but rug maintains good pile overall. Old stitched repairs to tears through border at each side - see images. Longest edges have been re-bound and are generally tidy with just the expected wear. Fringed ends appear to be replacements. This has been well executed and is only visible upon close inspection. They are tidy and only bear the expected fraying. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition. A GEORGE II MAHOGANY CENTRE TABLEMID 18TH CENTURYA frieze drawer to each end70cm high, 43.5cm wide, 69cm deepCondition Report: Old marks, scratches and abrasions, old chips and splits comensurate with age and use. Some small old losses. Some old repairs. The original surface, retains very good rich colour and depth of patina overall, particularly to the frieze and legs generally but with some faded areas. The top is more faded as expected from cleaning/ use and bears some old dark stains and scratches as expected for age. (see images)Unusually, there is an operating drawer at each end. The drawer linings are original. The handles appear original, The locks are likely replacements, have been black painted and are lacking screws aswell as being secured by associated screws. This is a genuinely unusual form of table. Some of the blocks supporting the 'ears' of the tops of the legs may be old replacements, one or two of the carved 'ears' may be well executed old replacements. One drawer has cut out slots to the interior where divisions were once fitted ( possibly to house inkwell/ inkpots.No old breaks to legs or feet. No splicing to legs or feet. Some of the carved scrolls to terminals vary from eachother but appear original and part of the charm of the piece.The bearers beneath the top may be old replacements, they bear various old nails and also some later screws.
