Large early 20th Century golden mohair bear (possibly Steiff), on a red wooden frame with wheels, 38cm x 58cm Condition: Loss of mohair predominantly to the top of the bear, with some of the lining having holes showing red underneath fabric, two of the wooden peg screws having snapped/rotted, meaing the bear has become loose to one side, loss of paintwork to frame, wear to wheels. **General condition consistent with age

The basket shows signs of wear, with scratches and tarnishing, slight discolouration to the rim. The footed bowl is slightly misshapen to the foot with some dents and scratches.

The white edged shoulder straps bear silk and silver St.Patrick stars. On the wearer’s right sleeve is a regimentally fitted fine large bullion WO1 Royal Arms resting in laurel sprays (as worn by Academy Sergeant Major etc). VGC

April 1942” ... another to him for the Luftwaffe Ground Combat Badge to “Feldwebel Johannes Wuestner” of “Fallschirmjäger -Regt. 3” dated “1.1o 1942” ... another for Silver Wound Badge “Wüstner, Feldwebel of “6./Fallschirm-Jäger -Regiment 3” dated “14.1o.1942” ... another for the Kreta cuff title “Feldwebel Johannes Wüestner” of “8./Fallschirm-Jäger -Regiment 3” dated “20.Mai 1942”. All bear slight scorch marks, some with small parts of edges burnt away. (5 items)
German Third Reich NSDAP large identification drape.A good red cotton example. One side has sewn on white disc bearing sewn on black swastika. Corners and long edges bear metal eyelets (one partially detached) so can secure in place. Service wear including several small holes and minor tears. Approx. 136 x 460 cm.Captured in 1944 from a fort in the cliffs at Cap Gris Nez on the French coast by Captain P.K.G.Spencer, Royal Artillery, one of those tasked with securing the guns that shelled Dover only 34 km away.
WW2 Royal Tank Regiment 1943 Middle East Military Cross, GSM Group of 8 Medals.A fine Tank to Tank action Military Cross awarded to Captain Jack Mears MC 1st Tank Regiment 7th Armoured Division. Comprising: Military Cross “1943”. 1939/45 Star, Africa Star, clasp “8th Army”, Italy Star, France & Germany Star, Defence Medal, War Medal, General Service Medal, clasp “Palestine 1945-48”, “Capt J Mears MC R.TKS”. GC mounted Court style.The recommendation for the award of the Military Cross is dated March 1943.“At the Battle of Medenine 6th Mar 1943 this Officer Commanded a Tp of Heavy Tanks. He was ordered into a battle line poss. about 14.15 hrs to break up a concentration of eleven enemy tanks. He skilfully manoeuvred his Tp into a position behind the commanding ridge from which he brought the fire from his Troop to bear in an exceptionally short time. The speed and accuracy of the shooting was such that in the initial shoot five enemy tanks were knocked out in 12 mins. Lieut Mears then ordered one tank to engage two enemy MET, and directed the fire so that they were both knocked out. At a subsequent phase when his own tank had run out of A.P ammunition , Lieut Mears engaged an enemy tank with delayed action H.E and by manoeuvring for posn scored three direct hits, so damaging the enemy tank that it was put out of action. Throughout he day Lieut Mears conduct and leadership gave great inspiration to those under his command. He displayed throughout exceptional tactical skill and with the men under his command produced outstanding results from quick accurate gunnery”. The Recommendation is signed by Field Marshal Montgomery.
