FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009) - Mario Kirner Collection: Costume, Prosthetic Head & Torso, Bear Trap & Chain - A costume, prosthetic head, body under-suit, bear trap, and chain from Marcus Nispel's horror reboot Friday the 13th. This lot comes from the personal collection of Friday the 13th collector and historian Mario Kirner. Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears) wore his costume throughout the film.It features a white T-shirt, dark green trousers, and a green and blue quilted coat comprising the lower half of a parka and the upper half of a hunter jacket. The holes and stains on the T-shirt and coat screen-match them to scenes where Jason impaled Chewie (Aaron Yoo). The prosthetic torso is made of flesh-color foam-latex. Featuring a rear zipper, it depicts a sinewy, bloodstained abdomen. The separate prosthetic foam-latex head depicts Jason's large, deformed cranium, stout neck, broad shoulders, and hand-stitched hair. The prosthetic does not extend to the face, as the piece was used for scenes where Jason wore a hockey mask. Both prosthetics are presented on a white plastic mannequin display. Clay (Jared Padalecki) used a bear trap to stab and bind Jason in the climactic fight. Made of resin with metal screws and rubber teeth, the trap features dual-spring levers, a circular plate and a stock bar, attached to which is a long resin chain. The lot is accompanied by a studio letter of authenticity for the costume. All costume elements exhibit perforations, staining, and heavy distressing. The prosthetics exhibit stiffening from age, becoming brittle near the edges, and some holes are present. The trap exhibits production-added, rust-colored paint to create an aged effect. Some chain links are severed at their mid-point. As this lot ships from Propstore's London Office, shipping must be arranged with Propstore prior to bidding. Dimensions: (bear trap and chain) 60" x 16" x 6" (151 cm x 41 cm x 14 cm); (head and torso) 33 1/2" x 23" x 11" (85 cm x 58 cm x 28 cm)This lot comes from the Friday the 13th Props Museum collection of Mario Kirner. The Museum was created as a private collection that showcased not only Jason's iconic hockey mask, but also a number of other movie props, costumes and additional materials that were used during the production of the Friday the 13th movies. An avid contributor in the screen-used prop and costume collecting field for more than 20 years, Mario Kirner has been a dedicated in his work and efforts to help to transform what was once a niche hobby into an popular culture phenomenon. Mario is not just a collector, but a true historian and curator of all things Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th, also publishing a book dedicated to showcasing the museum's content and their stories. A REGENCY CAST IRON FIRE GRATE IN THE EGYPTIAN CLASSICAL TASTE, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURYWith triangular backplate with fan lunette corners above basket, flanked by pyramidal topped sides, on Egyptian wing capped acroteria mounted uprights with paw feet 65cm high, 96.5cm wide, 35.5cm deep Most typically such fire grates are ascribed in design to George Bullock. Whilst the Tew Park auction and his drawings for a 'Plan of stove in dining Room and Oak Study' do bear close comparison- the Egyptianesque detailing to this example suggests that other designers may have drawn on the Tomb of Agrippa in the Pantheon in Rome for their inspiration and incorporated elements as popularised by "Description de l'Égypte" (Publ. 1878-1801).Condition Report: Generally good- wear from use and cleaned and reblacked condition - internal side plate to its left hand side slightly buckledCondition Report Disclaimer

Lot 58

AUSTRALIA. Victoria, 1837-1901. Gold sovereign, 1872/1 M. Melbourne. Shield; 2 over 1. In 1871 it was decided to open a second mint in Australia, this time in Melbourne, to service the increasing demand for gold coins. From now coins would bear the same design as the British sovereigns, identified by a mint mark in the lower section of the reverse of the coin. Dies of the new designs and bearing the date 1871 were prepared in London and left Southampton via boat on 30 September 1871. However, after transferring the package to the steamer Rangoon on 1 November, the boat hit a rock on the Southwest coast of Ceylon. Despite this terrible fate all passengers and a small number of packages were saved. The 1872/1 overdate is testament to the survival of at least one of the 1871 dies as local engraver Julius Hogarth was commissioned by the Melbourne mint to create the overdate die. An extremely rare variety with a captivating story and truly historical significance.Young head left, WW on truncation; date below, with 2 struck over 1; VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. / Crowned shield within wreath; mintmark M and national emblems below; BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:.
