A German carved hardwood sculpture of three black forest bears, 20th century, each modelled standing on hind legs with fore legs outstretched in the position of holding a tree, loosely positioned on a trefoil carved base with flowerhead and leaf motifs, raised on three feet, 21cm highCondition Report: The ears of each bear with some losses. The right foot of one bear with a large loss, the left foot of another bear with a large loss, each figure stands in its place but is loosely attached with a couple of dowels.

Alekos Fassianos. (1935 Athen - 2022 ebd.). Boukoliko. 1994. Kugelstift auf hauchzartem, strukturiertem Papier mit Ausschnitten. 33 x 31,5 cm. Signiert und datiert. Punktuell auf vom Künstler gestalteter Unterlage montiert und im Künstlerrahmen unter Glas gerahmt (ungeöffnet). Dort verso auf Griechisch betitelt, bezeichnet, datiert, ortbezeichnet "Paris" und mit weiteren Werksangaben. - Das feine Papier technikbedingt vereinzelt etwas knickspurig und mit Druckspuren des Kugelschreibers. In den Ecken die Spuren der Montierung von verso recto etwas durchscheinend. Augenscheinlich in gutem Zustand. Ausdrucksstarke Zeichnung im typischen Stil Fassianos'. Provenienz: Sammlung Gudrun von Leitner, Hamburg. - Alekos Fassainos war einer der bekanntesten zeitgenössischen Künstler Griechenlands. Er begab sich 1960 nach dem Studium der Malerei an der Nationalen Technischen Universität Athen nach Frankreich, um an der École des Beaux-Arts in Paris zu studieren. Verhältnismäßig früh entwickelte der Künstler seinen Personalstil: so war er häufig von mythologischen Darstellungen der Antike seines Heimatlandes beeinfluss, vereinfachte die Darstellungen jedoch und befreite sie von Kitsch. So entstanden Arbeiten, die von einer frischen, modernen Naivität zeugen und in Teilen an die Formensprache Jean Cocteaus erinnern. Biros on gauzy, textured paper with cuts. Signed and dated. Spot-mounted to mat made by the artist and framed in artist's frame under glass (unopened). There on the verso titled in greek, dated, place-named and with further details of the work. - The fine paper somewhat creased due to the technique and with pressure marks of the biros. At corners traces of mounting from verso recto a little bit shining through. Visually in good condition. Expressive drawing in the typical style of Fassianos. - Provenance: Collection of Gudrun von Leitner. Hamburg. - Alekos Fassainos was one of the best-known contemporary artists in Greece. After studying painting at the National Technical University of Athens, he went to France in 1960 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. The artist developed his personal style relatively early: he was often influenced by mythological depictions of the antiquity of his homeland, but simplified the depictions and freed them from kitsch. This resulted in works that bear witness to a fresh, modern naivety and are in parts reminiscent of Jean Cocteau's formal language.
