Artist: Meghan Allbright Sponsor: University College Birmingham About the artist: Meghan is a Birmingham-based artist who re-appropriates imagery and uses a glut of materials to create works that are loosely based on systems and hierarchies. Her painting style uses a similar technique of layering and mapping. She collects children’s book illustrations alongside more industrial imagery to create ‘suspended’, dreamlike landscapes.
An early 20th century Swiss silver calendar moonphase open face pocket watch, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, blued spade hands and four subsidiary dials showing months, date, day and moonphase (incorporated into seconds dial), the jewelled Swiss lever movement no. 37021, the case 62mm MOVEMENT: keyless wound, the gilt half plate movement with straight line club tooth lever escapment, large bimetallic split compensated balance, overcoil balance spring, regulator index on the central bridge, movement not functioning. CASE: four piece, triple 'bear rampant' in inner back cover, cuvette and pendant, good solid gauge, one dent to case back, and lightly scrated overall DIAL: good clean dial, a little dirt beneath the crystal, crystal without issue.
A late 19th century Swiss silver open faced pocket watch, the white enamel dial signed John Myers & Co, Geneva, with black Roman numerals and gold spade hands, three quarter plate cylinder movement, the case stamped with triple bear and ‘.935’ standard, circa 1900, the case 48mm diameter, together with curb link watch chain and silver medallion and watch key MOVEMENT: three quarter plate cylinder movement with oversprung three arm brass domed balance, movement functioning at time of cataloguing. CASE: four piece, the cuvette inscribed ‘Made in Geneva expressly for John Myers & Co, 135 & 151 Westminster Bridge Road London’. Engine turned to case back. A little grubby but a good solid case without issues. Crystal grazed about the circumference. DIAL: very clean, no issues.
A GERMAN CERAMIC HEAD DOLL, woodwool filled cloth body with composition hands and feet, height approximately 26cm, some damage/wear, with a well loved golden plush teddy bear, possibly Steiff has a plain button in his ear which Steiff did use for a short period just after WWII, Kapok filled, jointed body, missing eyes, nose and a lot of fur, no claws, with a modern Chinese made tinplate rope climbing monkey toy (3)
A 19th Century Black Forest table centrepiece, carved as two bears carrying an oval dish, 67cm wide Condition Report: Lot 554: Bowl has no chips or cracks but the surface is a little worn and uneven in line with age and usage. The 'bear' stand is generally in good condition but the end of one of the handles has been knocked off. The other handle ends have had slight knocks / scuffs.
