A Chinese rank badge military officer fifth rank, 19th century, circa 1870, the bear standing on a rock above waves surrounded by clouds, bats holding the wan symbol and the eight Taosit precious emblems, day lilies and rui shaped fungus growing from rocks. The background of dark indigo silk couched in gold threads with scrolling flowers, floating on waves are auspicious emblems including the Buddhist bell, the endless knot, the lotus and the musical stone, embroidered in satin stitch and gold couching.
