Original vintage music advertising poster for a concert by Quicksilver and Messenger Service at the Avalon Ballroom in 1968. Supporting acts featured The Aces of Cups and The Flamin' Groovies. The event was organised by Family Dog Productions. The Avalon Ballroom was a music venue in the Polk Gulch neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The space operated from 1966 to 1969, at the height of the counterculture movement. Artwork of a brown bear peering above the banner of text, with hilly mountains in the background, and a flowery grassland with mushrooms beneath. Small text below describe ticket outlets for the concert. Issued by Family Dog Productions. Excellent condition. Original vintage advertising poster for an event titled Saloon Slalom - the Harvest Moon, subtitled beneath The 5th annual Saloon Slalom Squaw Valley Ski Resort, California U.S.A., March 20 to 21, 1971, co-hosted by the restaurants of North Lake Tahoe. The artwork features drawn fun cartoons of slalom skiers in circles, with flags of the different locations such as The Bear Pen, Rusty Scupper, and River Ranch Northern Mine. A set of Victorian steel and brass mounted fire tools, mid-19th century, comprising shovel, poker and tongs, cast with berried grips, the pierced and shaped shovel 78cm longCondition Report: All implements bear the usual minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age.There is some light pitting and tarnishing particularly to the ends of the implements, and there is some slight bending to shovel.The tongs may be lacking a stud or ornament to their hinge. The tools were recently polished and are of quite fresh appearance. There are polish deposits of light green colour in the recesses which could presumably be addressed.Condition Report Disclaimer
A Sarab runner, approximately 485 x 95cm Condition Report: Some wear to pile overall. Wear reveals underlying weft in areas (see images for extent). Longest edges rebound. They bear the expected wear and undulation. Fringing with fraying and losses at both ends. This encroaches into the guard stripe slightly at the centre of one end. Box-set is brand new M/ Factory Sealed condition. Comes in outer cardboard box housing with the title of the box-set and artwork printed on it. Each Record is a different colour. Rare early 20th century gold teddy bear stickpin, the bear with long limbs and beautifully detailed with spiral twist pin fitting - probably a special commission. 6.67g, in caseCondition report: Very good condition. No damage or repairs. Not hallmarked but tests as approximately 14/15ct gold. No maker's mark. Teddy measures approximately 19mm tall. Overall length of the stick pin is 89mm.
