LANTZ WALTER: (1899-1984) American Animator, creator of Woody Woodpecker. Academy Award winner. An original colour 26.5 x 13.5 limited edition cel, the hand painted acetate cel overlaid on a gouache background is entitled Wind Up and is a recreation of original art used in the production of the cartoon Kiddie League (1959). Signed to the acetate by Lantz in black ink with his name alone. Limited Edition number 97 of 200 and accompanied by the original Universal Studios certificate of authenticity. Together with a vintage signed and inscribed 5 x 7 photograph by the actress Francoise Rosay and a vintage signed and inscribed 10 x 13 photograph by the actor Herbert Marshall (`To Sheilah, with blessings galore, Bart`). Both photographs are by Clarence Sinclair Bull and bear his blindstamp. Some corner and surface creasing and minor silvering to Marshall`s photograph, otherwise G to VG, 3

DU MAURIER DAPHNE: (1907-1989) British Author. T.L.S., Daphne du Maurier, three pages, 8vo, Kilmarth, Par, Cornwall, 22nd August 1978, to Mrs [Lorna] Knight. Du Maurier thanks her correspondent for her letter and adds that she is delighted that Knight has a good collection of her books from Heron (`although please don`t think I look like that dreadful photograph at the begining [sic]!`) She continues to refer to mutual links with Hampstead and Golders Green before stating `As for Teddy Bears, it is true that as a child my Teddy was a girl, Eddie, and used to come to see Peter Pan every year, perched on the side of the box in which we sat, but somehow she was given away when we left Cannon Hall and today I have a group of even older Teddies that belonged to my dear late husband, and one he even took to the First World War, which must be quite a record!` The novelist further explains that her family are staying with her and also her mentions her current writing, `I am trying to do some research on a Tudor gentleman called John Harington, twice imprisoned in the Tower of London, but it goes rather slowly. At 71 I am slowing up a bit, unlike the great Agatha Christie who went on till 80.` Together with a second T.L.S., Daphne du Maurier, one page, 8vo, Kilmarth, Par, Cornwall, 13th May 1982, to Lorna [Knight], thanking her for `the darling little Teddy Bear (Eddi 11)` and commenting `You must have spent many hours of your precious time making her for me. She will be placed with the rest of the family on my Bedroom window sill.` Also including a signed colour 3.5 x 5 photograph of Du Maurier seated in a full length pose at the edge of a beach. Signed in blue ink to a clear area at the head of the image and dated 1977 in her hand. Further including a colour postcard photograph of Kilmarth, Du Maurier`s home in Cornwall, signed to the verso in blue ink, `with best wishes from Daphne du Maurier, present tenant of Kilmarth!` and dated 22nd August 1978 in her hand. A few light stains to the first letter, not affecting the text or signature, G to generally VG, 4

A good series of eleven original official colour 10 x 12 photographs by Lord Lichfield, each taken at the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981. Four of the images depict the Royal couple in different poses together, one image shows Princess Diana alone in a half length pose wearing her wedding dress and the remaining six images are all different group images of Prince Charles and Princess Diana accompanied by bridesmaids, page boys, close and extended members of their families etc. All bear the credit label of Lichfield pasted to the versos and are individually numbered in pencil to the versos A2-A11 & A13. A few with minor bumps to the corners of the photographer`s mount, VG to EX, 11

CHARLES FELIX: (1765-1831) King of Sardinia 1821-31. Fine D.S., Carlo Felice, as King, at the foot, one page, large folio, Turin, 30th June 1830. The handsome partially printed document relates to Major General Lugi Bongianni di Castelborgo who has `maintained for many years the important command of the capital city of Our states….in exemplary fashion with the clear proofs of his courage fighting under our flag, to bear witness in the most honourable manner to his steadfast and unlimited devotion in Our service…` and appoints him to the Military Command of the Nice Division `with all the honours, authority and privileges attached to it.` With an attractive blind embossed paper seal affixed to the left of the King`s signature. Blank integral leaf. VG

REMINGTON ELIPHALET: (1793-1861) American Designer of the Remington Rifle, founder of the Reminton Arms Co. D.S., E. Remington & Sons, being a signed cheque, Ilion, 14th October 1854. The attractive partially printed cheque, featuring an engraving of a blacksmith, is drawn on the Ilion Bank and completed in Remington`s hand, made payable to L. L. Merry for the sum of $45. Together with a similar cheque signed by Remington`s son, Samuel, who joined his father`s business in 1845. Both cheques bear a very neat, small tear in the shape of a cross to the centre, being the bank`s cancellation, neither affecting the signatures. VG, 2

His works are identified by an impressed mark, and are usually thickly potted. The late 19th and early 20th centuries saw a revival of figures made in the manner of He Chaozong and these also bear seal marks.

A rare original Officer`s white tunic for civil Zeppelins. The sleeves have rank insignia comprising 3 rings, 2 of silver below one in gold. The whole surmounted by a star, embroidered in bullion gold thread. The buttons are of gilt metal and depict a Zeppelin flying over a mountainous landscape. The buttons bear the inscription `Zeppelin`. The tunic bears the makers label `Ernst Brendler Hamburg`. This company was established in 1879. GC some light staining. Illustrated on Plate 35.

A rare German Officer’s civil Zeppelin two piece uniform. The jacket and trousers are both of Navy blue cloth. The jacket bears two rows of large decorative gilt Naval style buttons. Also a cloth badge of the Deutsche Zeppelin Reederei company. The sleeves bear two gold braid rings denoting the Officer’s rank. Within the lining of the jacket is the makers trade label `Ehlers & Kley. Marburg-Lahn`. VGC minor wear. illustrated on Plate 35.
