The leaves are signed by the party or parties who issued the original deed, and by the notary public. Several of the earliest are signed by Alonso Riquelme and Garcia de Salcedo who with Francisco Pizarro and Rodrigo de Mazuelas, signed the famous foundation document of Lima (18th January 1535). Riquelme had sailed from Spain as Pizarro's treasurer to discover and conquer Peru.
