A 12 Bore Side by Side Shotgun, by Holland & Holland of London, Serial No. 11926, 25ins blued steel barrels with plain top rib, bright steel lock plates engraved with manufacturers name, chequered hardwood stock, 13.5ins pull, composite butt plate, 41ins overallThe weapon appears to be in honest overall condition. The serial number to the fore end does match the action, however the barrels bear a different serial number of 41185 and stamped as sleeved. The measurement of the barrels is 25 and a quarter inch. Both bores are clean and bright with no evidence of any dents or pitting. The action itself has some pitting to the metal due to age and moderate usage, and wear in general to the areas most handled. It has been cleaned back in the past but has obviously been allowed at some point to corrode. However they are now bright and clean. The stock itself has one or two knocks due to age and general usage. The chequering is still reasonably crisp and the bluing to the trigger guard is 100%. The fore end is free from any obvious chips or cracks but does appear to have had some slight shaving to the tip and has been re-bedded. The chequering itself is fair. There is also evidence of some previous repair to the fore end. The barrel to action fit is good with only the very slightest of movement. The bluing to the barrels is 100% and appears to have been recently re-blued. Overall excellent value for money.
