A large clear crystal vase designed by Helena Tynell for Riihimaki Lasi Oy of Finland circa 1946 titled ‘Coupe’, the heavy cylindrical pedestal base having a concave dome to the foot below a ring of tear form air bubbles rising to a heavy cased spherical bowl, bear engraved signature and retains foil label, height 7’.
A graduated pair of clear crystal ‘Sail’ vases designed by Sven Palmquist for Orrefors, the pair of drawn ovoid form each decorated with a stylised sail motif with interlaced and overlapped engraved lines, each bear full engraved signature, heights 11.5’ & 9’ respectively.(see lot 662 for illustration)
A later 20th Century clear cut crystal decanter set in the Georgian style by Thomas Webb comprising claret jug and six glasses set to a mahogany sectioned tray. The claret jug having a spread circular foot rising to an ovoid body and white metal mounts having arched panels decorated with acid etched and hand engraved foliate studies, the conforming wine goblets having matched decoration to the bowls, all bear acid signature to the base.
A 1930's R. Lalique dessert service in the ‘Pouilly’ pattern comprising two large serving plates and eight small sides plates, the plates all of circular dish section decorated with a band of stylised leaping fish picked out with a blue stain over the frosted ground, all bear full acid signature, largest 8.5'.
A creamware bear jug and cover late 18th/early 19th century modelled as a seated bear heightened with 'tooled' fur and splashed in brown hugging a small dog to his chest which is leaning back and forms a spout the removable bear's head cover moulded with a muzzle and pricked ears loop handle to the reverse 24cm. 9.5in. (2) A similar jug and cover is illustrated by Major Cyril Earle The Earle Collection of Early Staffordshire Pottery p.31 pl.27.
Four sealed dated wine bottles late 18th Century each of dark olive-green tint applied with a moulded circular seal on the shoulder inscribed with: I. Brock/1786. G. Mayo /1787 Ja's Oakes Bury /1788 and Jn0 Bathe/1788 all with kick-in base. 23cm. to 28.5cm. 9in. to 11.25in. the last with repair to shoulder (4) The first two seals and the last appear to be unrecorded in the literature. James Oakes was said to be a wine-merchant at Bury St.Edmunds Suffolk and a number of bottles bear his name dating from 1735 to 1795.
