What is the Detroit scandal? I have not heard of it.' (29th January 1954), 'Is the Prof. F. Hof a block of flats or offices? You are sure it is not Sigmund F. Hof. Can you ascertain the date when it was named?' (14th July 1954), 'Many thanks for the full information about the Society meetings and Sigm. Freud Hof. I presume the latter is a new building? (14th August 1954?), 'Can you tell me if Pater Schmidt (F's anthropological opponent) is still alive?' (25th February 1957). Together with a series of seven pencil drafts and other notes in the hand of Winterstein, most signed with his initials A. A few of the correspondence cards bear postal frankings which slightly affect the text and signatures, generally VG, 18 Sigmund Freud: Life and Work by Jones was published in three volumes between 1953 and 1957, during the same period of the present letters.
