A Chinese cloisonné enamel and gilt-bronze 'Champion' vase, comprised of two cylindrical vases with waisted necks and splayed feet, set flanking a large stylized eagle with zoomorphic bird-headed wings, perched upon a dragon-headed crouching bear, his rear legs and tail emerging on the back below a further large gilt-bronze clambering chilong, the eagle and bear forming the rebus yingxiong, meaning heroic nobility, the cylindrical vases enamelled with large lotus blooms in blue, red, and white on a turquoise ground, 19cm high 掐丝珐琅缠枝莲纹双筒瓶
A CHINESE SILVER AND GOLD INLAID BRONZE VASE MING DYNASTY OR EARLIER The cylindrical body with archaistic scrolling decoration, with two zoomorphic handles with three rings to the base, all supported on three bear-shaped feet, 8cm, 300g. Provenance: from the Grabowski collection. Christie's London, 16th December 1981, lot 280, purchased by Spinks & Son Ltd for £390 and then the collection of Professor Peter H Plesch and of Mrs Traudi Plesch OBE and thence by descent, collection no.Bm8B.
A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE CONG-SHAPED VASE REPUBLIC PERIOD Painted with pheasants, chickens, a peacock and a hwamei bird, perched on rocks and in tree branches amongst peonies, roses, magnolias, hibiscus and prunus, a four character Shen De Tang zhi to the base, 26cm. Shen De Tang, the Hall of Prudent Virtue, completed in 1831, was Emperor Daoguang's main residence at the Imperial Palace. Porcelain ware produced for this palace bear the Shen De Tang Zhi mark.
1st-3rd century AD. A bronze mount in the form of a bear skin, head facing frontally with detailing to the face, paws hanging to either side; elongated hinge loop to the top. 57 grams, 42mm (1 1/2"). Property of a North West London lady; from her family collection since before 2000. Fine condition.
