apparently unmarked, circa 1640, tests to Sterling silver standard, the cover with a pierced bust of Charles I after Thomas Rawlins, within a solid border engraved CARLOVS REX, the sides with panels of military trophies over a textured ground, the underside with an engraving of Old Father Time, interior containing a collection of 34 counters, after Simon De Passe, die struck with a comprehensive collection (with one or two duplicates) of the Kings and Queens of England, from Harold to Charles I, and including one each of Philip of Spain, Prince Frederick and the Duke of York, on the obv. the figure of the sovereign, and on the rev. the arms, box 3cm diameter, 3cm in height, 3ozt grossFootnote: Struck in the manner of engraving, the counters were used for reckoning and gaming.Condition report: Overall in good condition with no obvious signs of damage or repair. The counters are a little worn but still have good definition. See images for details of the individual counters. Friction fitting cover fits well.

Slightly larger, more expensive, and more powerful, it used a light-duty automobile-type rack-and-pinion steering box instead of the recirculating ball truck unit used in the first generation. Most sold in the UK used the ubiquitous 2.0 petrol, although a 1.6-litre GV1600 became available in 2001 but never matched the popularity of the 2-litre.CA02 VAV was registered in July 2002. Contains a silver topped scent bottle, scissors, lidded slim silver box, toothpick, needle, tiny gold plated and mother of pearl penknife, and silver gilt thimble. Dimensions 5cm x 4cm x 4cm. Weight 37.4gms. Continental silver guilloche enamel scent bottle flask with inner blown glass bottle, with ground glass stopper. Dimensions 4.2cm x 1.3cm, weight approx 13.8gms Condition Report: Guilloche, inner bottle has some chips around the lip and the dipper is broken. Walnut; has a crack to both sides of the shell, some moth holes to the pink silk inner liner. Some losses to the gold plating on bottle lid, thimble.

Length 41.5cm, weight 68.8gms Condition Report: Light tarnish throughout, clasp works well. Could do with a general clean appears dirty in the recesses. Amethysts are not of top quality, one has a surface reaching inclusion, or it might be a small chip, others have white inclusions and eye visible banding. Nice early makers marks.

L.S., Margaret, also signed ('Tony') by Antony Armstrong-Jones (1930- 2017) English Photographer, husband of Princess Margaret 1960-78 (the text of the body of the letter also in his hand), two pages, 8vo, n.p. (London?), 22nd March n.y., to Marion (?), on the printed stationery of Kensington Palace. The couple remark 'What tremendously exciting news', although regret that they will not be able to attend their correspondent's wedding as they will be away, further adding 'We enclose a little silver box as a very small way of sending you all our wishes for every possible happiness in the future'. [CHARLES]: (1948- ) Prince of Wales & [DIANA] (1961-1997) Princess of Wales. A presentation piece of wedding cake from the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana, 29th July 1981. The piece of traditional wedding cake is contained in the original white and silver box printed with the initials of the Royal couple and the Prince of Wales feathers to the lid. The cake is wrapped in the original doyley. Signed by Charles Spencer (1964- ) Viscount Althorp, brother of Diana, Princess of Wales, in bold black ink with his name alone to a clear area of the lid. VG     Prince Charles and Lady Diana had no fewer than 27 wedding cakes made for their marriage, the official wedding cake being supplied by the Naval Armed Forces. Other suppliers included Classic Celebration Cakes of Cheshire who also supplied cakes for other Royal weddings. One of their wedding cakes was created by the Belgian pastry chef S. G. Sender, 'cake maker to the kings'. Provenance: According to information supplied by the vendor the signature of Charles Spencer was obtained at a store in Tampa, Florida, where Spencer was promoting his furniture through Theodore Alexander, furniture manufacturers.
