A Dutch silver oval snuff box, stamped marks (rubbed), 18th century, the cover inset a martial medallion, the reverse with an inscription “DEZE VEREERT AAN DE ONDER OFFICIERAN EN ROTSGESELLEN VAN HET GROENE VAENDEL, WEGENS DE HONDERDSTE MEY PLANTING, GEDAAN, DEN 1 MEY 1734. DOOR DEN LUITENANT ANTONI GOUZY”, the base engraved with a patera and swags, 9cm (3.5in) wide, 159g (5 oz). The inscription broadly translates as: This honours the underofficers and company members of The Green Vaendel done because of (the foundation?). This was done 1st May 1734 by Lt. Antony Gouzy
