They made silver pieces inspired by the beautiful dinner services of the eighteenth century. Through lavish events at a number of international shows and exhibitions, Boin-Taburet contributed directly to the revival of this style.

Some very minor surface scratches as to be expected. Hallmarks and engraving are clear and crisp. Very minor wear and scuffing to the wooden base interior. The box is a little scuffed at the corners and at the thumbpieces.

C.A.B. St GEORGE'S IRVINE TRAINER: H.CECIL JOCKEY: L.PIGGOTT, interior with cedar wood lining and two dividers, 24 x 13cm, 6.5cm high, stamped to the underside ASPREY LONDONProvenance: From the estate of the late Julie Cecil (1942-2022)The Jockey Club Cup was established in 1873 as a flat horse race, open to thoroughbreds aged 3 years and over, held at Newmarket and contested over 2 ¼ miles. The distance was shortened to 1½ miles in 1959 and then extended to its current length of 1 mile, 7 furlongs and 209 yards in 1963. The event was given Group 3 status in 1971 and upgraded to Group 2 in 2014. In 2011, the race was moved from Newmarket to Ascot and renamed the British Champions Long Distance Cup, forming part of the British Champions Day scheduled to take place every October.In October 1972, the winning horse was ‘Irvine’, owned by Charles St George, ridden by Lester Piggott and trained by Henry Cecil. Overall in good condition with no obvious sign of repair. Some minor surface scratches and knocks as to be expected through use. Hinge does not appear strained, and the cover opens and closes satisfactorily. Engraving to the cover clear and crisp. Two or three minor dents to the right-hand side of the cover, more obvious in reflected light. Some more obvious scratching to the back over the engine turning. Hallmarks clear and crisp. Interior in good condition with two dividers present.

LADY DIANA SPENCER. 29 JULY 1981, 19cm high, 10.9ozt, number 84 of a limited edition of 950, and presented in the original fitted box with certificate and information cardProvenance: From the estate of the late Barry Lock (1934-2021)Australian silversmith, jeweller and designer, Stuart Devlin, ranks as one of the great contemporary gold and silver smiths and has been acclaimed by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths as the designer with ‘the Midas touch’.Devlin was made a freeman of the Goldsmiths’ Company by special grant in 1966 and elected a liveryman in 1972. In 1980, he was made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George ‘for services to the art of design’ and in 1982 was granted the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweller to Queen Elizabeth II. He was Prime Warden of the Goldsmiths' Company 1996 – 1997.In 2011, the Australia Day Foundation honoured Devlin as 'The greatest living goldsmith of his generation'. Later in that year, his wife, Carole, and sister-in-law, Victoria Kate Simkin, started to assemble his archive. A Victorian silver tobacco box, mark of Horton & Allday, Birmingham 1899, of circular form, flush fitting 'squeeze-to-open' spring loaded cover engraved LLOYDS 7TH MAY 1900 RICHARD WHITE NAVAL BRIGADE PO FIRST CLASS HMS POWERFUL LADYSMITH, around the Coat of Arms of Lloyds of London, gilded interior with personal engraving, 7cm diameter, 2.4oztProvenance: From the estate of the late Barry Lock (1934-2021)HMS Powerful was the lead ship of her class of two protected cruisers built for the Royal Navy in the 1890s. She was initially assigned to the China Station and then provided landing parties which fought in the Siege of Ladysmith of 1899–1900, during the Second Boer War.Ordered home in 1899, from her position in the South China Sea, Powerful was diverted around the southern tip of Africa in light of rising tensions between the British and the Boers in South Africa. They stopped in Mauritius to pick up soldiers. Her sister ship, Terrible, commanded by Captain Percy Scott, arrived the following day and Scott improvised field carriages from a pair of 4.7-inch (120 mm) guns and a pair of Terrible's 12-pounder guns, after a request from Lieutenant General George White, Commander of the besieged forces at Ladysmith, for more long-range artillery. Powerful ferried all four guns to Durban, with the artillery reaching Ladysmith on the last two trains to make it through.They were met with a hero's welcome on their return home, and the naval brigade paraded for Queen Victoria at Windsor Castle on 6th May.The current Royal Navy field gun competition commemorates the participation of Terrible and Powerful in the relief of Ladysmith.Overall in good condition with no obvious sign of damage or repair. Some surface scratches as to be expected and commensurate with use. Engraving to the cover a little worn but still readable. Hallmarks clear and readable. Catch in good condition. Interior gilding in good condition with just a little rubbing wear around the hinge area.

The cover opens and closes satisfactorily, though the hinge does appear a little strained and the cover will not stay open unassisted. Inside the gilding is worn and a little scruffy and the hallmarks are a little worn.

Rare Third Reich Un-Issued 1939 Knights Cross of the Iron Cross (Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes)‘Lazy 2’ Variant by C E Juncker, Berlin, superb example of one of the most desirable awards of the Third Reich era the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. This example remains in mint condition with all of the original finish remaining to the silver frame and blackened finish to the magnetic centre. The frame is stamped to the reverse with ‘800’ and the maker number ‘2’ for the firm C E Juncker, Berlin. The number 2 is on its back, which gives this type its name by collecting fraternity as the ‘Lazy 2’. The ribbon ring is also stamped ‘800’. Complete with its mint full length ribbon. Award is housed in the original leatherette presentation case of issue with brass hinge fittings to the reverse and press release pin. Some light scuffing to the case. The award is housed in its original two piece outer carton case with printed to the lid ‘RITTERKREUZ DES EISERNEN KREUZES’ to the top and bottom ‘C. E. Juncker Berlin SW 68’. Staples to each corner of the rectangular card box on both the lid and the base. This is a superb textbook example of this type of Knights Cross and would be almost impossible to upgrade from. For more information on this type of Knights Cross see the reference book ‘The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross’ by Dietrich Maerz, pages 90-95.

Third Reich 25 Year Faithful Service Decoration by Rudolf Souval, Wien, award with much of the silver frosted finish to the award and with black enamel central swastika. Complete with its ribbon. Housed in red card box with silver leaf ‘25’ to the lid. Tape repair and one border of the box lid is missing. Interior of the lid has Rudolf Souval makers label.
