A silver regimental cigarette box, 4th Queens Own Hussars, by The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths company, London 1925, plain rectangular form, the hinged cover with the regimental badge, length 12cm. Provenance: a Private Collection of Regimental Silver. The regiment was raised in 1685 and served in the Iberian Peninsula, the 1st Afghan War, and at Balaclava when it charged with the Light Brigade. When this cigarette box was made the Regiment were in Lucknow, India.
A George IV silver Regimental table snuff box, by Thomas Bartleet, retailed by T, Bartleet and Co., Birmingham 1823, rectangular form, engine-turned and chased foliate decoration, the hinged cover engraved with the badge of the 59th Regiment of foot, the underside with three hinged snuff compartments, gilded interiors, length 12cm, approx. weight 16oz.

Designed by Gerald Benney for Mappin and Webb, a commemorative silver jewellery box, London 1981, oblong form, with intertwined trellis decoration, the cover with the Prince of Wales feathers and Spencer crest, velvet lined interior with a tray, the underside with textured decoration and inscribed 'The Marriage of The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer, 29 July 1981', also inscribed 'Designed by Gerald Benney' and 'Mappin and Webb Ltd.', in a fitted case, length 12.5cm. Provenance: Purchased from Harrods, Knightsbridge, London, 1 March 1986.

A George III silver double-lidded snuff box, unmarked circa 1780, oblong boat form, engraved radiating decoration, the front with an armorial shield, bright-cut borders, the hinged cover with two hinged lids, length 9.5cm, approx. weight 3.7cm. The arms is that of Astley Baronets: Sir Edward Astley (1729-1802), 4th Baronet of Hill Morton from 1760. Provenance: purchased from Christie's South Kensington, Silver Sale,18 May 1999.

Provenance: Purchased from Bonhams, Knightsbridge, A Private Collection of Chinese Silver, 11 July 2000, lot 145.
A George III silver and coconut shell snuff box, no apparent maker's mark, London 1798, circular form, the hinged cover engraved with a scene of the Scarborough Cliff Bridge with a beach scene behind with ships, and inscribed 'GEORGE VICKERS Grove House Nr. SHEFFIELD LENGTH 344FT. HEIGHT 67FT. SCARBOROUGH CLIFF BRIDGE. B. 14ft', also engraved with a square and compass and a pair of compasses, possibly for a Masonic connection, the underside of the box formed by a carved coconut shell with a face with engraved teeth, diameter 7.8cm. Provenance: purchased from Christie's New York, Import Silver, Objects of Vertu and Russian Works of Art, 21 October 2003, lot 184. The Cliff Bridge, in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England spans the valley from St Nicholas Cliff to The Spa, it was completed in 1827. it was built to give easier access to the spa. The bridge has four segmental braced iron arches on plain tapering stone piers with stone abutments, and it is a rare example of a multiple-span cast iron bridge.

Provenance: purchased from Christie's New York, Important Silver, Objects of Vertu and Russian Works of Art, 14 April 2005, lot 91.
λAn 18th century silver portrait snuff box, the mark partially obscured, probably Belgian, oval form, the hinged cover engraved with an armorial and inscribed 'SOUBS L'OMBRE DE SES ALLIES MAMUCHE, the interior with a portrait miniature of a gentleman and lady on ivory, some water damage, gilded interior, length 8.5cm, approx. weight 3oz. The arms are possibly those of Mamuchet, of Picardy with Greietens in pretence.

Provenance: purchased from Dreweatt and Neate, 5 November 1997.
