Box containing five individually boxed medals relating to the German Army incl: copies of the Iron Cross. 2 commemorative silver coins issued by the Royal Mint (one being the 100th Anniversary of World War I and the other outbreak of World War I 2014). German notebook and three modern German rubber stamps unused together with a framed Nazi symbol of Adolf Hitler Exlibris, together with a small fork thought to be from the Vitenam War.
NAPOLEONIC INTEREST: THE BELLEROPHON A circular oak box, inset with a silver garter to the lid inscribed 'BELLEROPHON' and a 'B' monogram to the centre, the interior of the lid with a green paper label "THIS BOX IS MADE FROM A PIECE OF WOOD THAT FORMED THE KNEE PART OF THE CABIN WHERE NAPOLEAN SLEPT WHEN A PRISONER ON BOARD OF THE BELLEROPHON...", 9.5cm diameter Provenance: Rear Admiral Sir Frederick Lewis Maitland KCB (1777-1839), Captain of HMS Bellerophon and thence by decent to Judith du Boulay (née Crichton-Maitland). Sir Frederick Lewis Maitland was an officer in the Royal Navy during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. The most famous event of his career occurred when Napoleon Bonaparte surrendered to him onboard HMS Bellerophon on the 15th July 1815, marking the final end of the Napoleonic Wars.
