1962 Porsche 356B Transmission: manualMileage:Porsche's 356 became a classic the day the first car left the production line and the ensuing years have only enhanced the legend. Continuous updates from the very earliest days of the model and gradual replacement of its early Volkswagen-based components with parts from Porsche manufacture saw to this. These detail changes came frequently but major change was only made when necessary and after due consideration of their effect to improve performance, ride, handling and the marque's enviable reputation of being able to produce sporting motor cars with competition-beating reliability. After a significant update in 1955 with the 356A, the 356B was introduced in 1960, the firm's most significant evolution yet. Motivated in part by increasingly demanding safety regulations, the 356B had raised, stronger bumpers and lifted headlights that noticeably altered the car's frontal appearance. Vent windows in the doors and hinged rear windows enhanced interior ventilation. Up-rated Elfin brakes with cooling fins also benefitted from air intakes below the headlights which channels cooling air to the front drums. This superb and highly developed Historic Rally car is offered with FIVA identity and is presented in silver/yellow which looks fantastic. In 1992 the car was the subject of a ‘ground up’ bare shell rebuild by Roger Bray Restorations using the original matching number engine, which was up-rated to 1720cc and produces 100bhp plus (see history file complete with photographs). This car is well known in the rally world and it has participated in many events including the Classic Marathon, Rallye des Isles, Liege-Rome-Liege, Three Castles, the Monte Carlo Historique 2014/15/16/17/18/19, Le Jog 2014 to 2017 and the Tour Britannia. For many years prior to the current owner, the car was looked after by the renown Porsche specialist, Andy Prill and all that was needed to be done was carried out with no expense spared. During 2013 the car went through an extensive recommissioning to international rally standards by Grant Speed Engineering. The engine was removed and rebuilt 2000 miles ago, set up and LSD checked, as was the gear box. It also benefits from new shock absorbers all round, new clutch, new heat exchangers and pipes, all ancillary parts replaced, new Wosp Starter and Dyanator. A competition wiring loom was fused and relayed, new Cobra Custom seats were fitted with Schroth belts and a fire extinguisher has been plumbed in. It has a full roll cage, sump guards front and rear, Rally trip, heated front windscreen and four Cibie Oscar spot lights. This fabulous Porsche has proved to be a very capable and reliable car with excellent gear ratios for long range touring. There are invoices from Grants Speed in the history file showing over £147,000 has been spent and interestingly the dyno sheet shows the car now produces around 141 BHP! Work carried out this year comprises of engine and gearbox removed and all ancillary parts replaced or refurbished, new manifolds, heat exchangers, clutch, gearbox stripped and rebuilt LSD checked, 4 New Koni competition shock absorbers, new high torque Wasp Starter and Dyanator, new flexible brake hoses, the carburetors were re balanced and checked. It is now ready to compete! The cost of parts were in excess of £3250 and the labour costs were £4500. 2003 Renault Avantime Privilege Transmission: manualMileage:94728The motoring press were truly wowed by Renault's advanced MPV Coupé Concept when unveiled at Paris Salon in 1998. Remarkably true to the original design, the 'Avantime', built by Matra, was a genuine mould-breaker that offered a luxurious glass cabin with ‘Theatre’ seating, pillarless side windows and a full panoramic sliding glass roof. The view of the road was commanding and the performance sufficient to ensure that A & B Roads were navigated swiftly with great poise and grace. Our top-of-the-range V6 Privilege is particularly unusual in that it features an original six-speed manual transmission. Paintwork is a bright metallic ‘Illiad’ blue with silver roof-rails and optioned with the opulent 'Bridge of Weir' leather upholstery. This 'Limited Edition' car Number 336 also boasts factory satellite navigation and the all-important metal plaque in its original presentation box along with certificate, Renault letter and deluxe Design book. The current registered keeper has owned the Avantime for half the cars life with Renault main dealer servicing all the way up until 2017, presenting superbly.
