1971 Porsche 911E Transmission: manualMileage:87800The Porsche 911 is the flagship car of the German manufacturer. It has a distinctive design, rear-engine, with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in 1963, the 911 has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained little changed. Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of competition and is among the most successful competition cars ever. The earliest edition of the 911 had a flat-six engine in the 'boxer' configuration, similar to the 356, air-cooled, rear-mounted and displaced 1991cc. It was mated to a four or five-speed manual 'Type 901' gearbox.Manufactured in October 1970 this 911E, originally shipped to the USA by Porsche Cars America where it was registered in 1971. Details from Mohr Sports Car Brokers indicate that the car when it left California for Belgium in 2014/15 had been fully restored and uprated, this included later green/black leather trim and an uprated engine to a 1973 2.4 litre S specification and was offered with the original engine in a crate with the sale. The original certificate of title from 2014 is still with the documentation and we can ascertain that the cars restoration included a repaint in the original 8080 paint code (Silver metallic), full retrim, gearbox rebuild and sports exhaust and Sekuritt glass all round with new chrome and very good panel gaps sitting on deep 6's Fuchs including the flat six spare wheel. The car was purchased by a Belgian whom then later that year offered the car for sale in this exact condition via the Hedingham Classics at the Castle auction at which our vendor purchased for £88,040. Belgian registered in 2015, under the skin was still the 2.4 litre uprated S specification engine with the original matching numbers engine, which was in need of rebuilding, giving the opportunity to return this car to its factory specification. After careful consideration he initially had the car fully retrimmed by Classic FX to original, as it would have left the showroom in 1971, including restoration of the genuine Recaro sports seats. Now invested in the car he took it to renowned specialists Redtek, air cooled 911 engine specialists, to fully rebuild and install the original engine to the car and fit new front and rear shock absorbers, all of which is supported by invoices in the history file. Since the full engine rebuild, which was under 1,000 miles ago (thus still considered being 'run in') the car has been maintained by Redtek/Nick Fulljames and presents as a fabulous example of a matching numbers fully restored 71 911E.Offered with original documentation from its purchase and export in 2014, through to all invoices from both Redtek and Classic FX coupled to an original 911E owner's manual, UK V5C and Porsche certificate of Authenticity, tool roll, jack and spare CDI box, this is a wonderful opportunity to own an iconic 911 in its factory specification, with viewing highly recommended.
