JAPANESE WEDDING MIRROR - Meiji Period Paktong or Nickel-Silver Wedding Mirror in fine lacquered box exhibiting mons of the two families on top and sides, nested inside the silk-lined pewter rimmed box you will find a beautifully detailed, signed mirror, having a reticulated disc floated within an engraved hollow displaying the traditional theme of a tree atop an ancient turtle, two birds facing each other above a smaller centered turtle which is holed to receive a missing silk cord, 5" (12.7 cm) diam x 3/4" (1.9 cm) mirror, inside a 5 3/4" (14.6 cm) x 2 3/8" (6.1 cm) box, the mirror is fine, light scratches to box.
CHINESE EXPORT GILT SILVER LIDDED BOX, Made in Canton circa 1750, identical in form to seven examples now in the Hermitage, part of Catherine the Great`s toilet service. For many years thought to be of European origin, boxes of this type are now recognized as being of Chinese origin and made for the Western market. 2 1/2" (6.4 cm) tall x 6 3/4" (17.2 cm) wide x 5" (12.7 cm) deep. In excellent condition.
