The first recorded building on the site of Wilton House dates back to 871. The present Grade I listed house dates back to the 17th century, when it was rebuilt after a fire in 1647. A selection of tableware and accessories, to include; a five-piece cut glass cruet set, each piece of faceted baluster form with pierced white metal mounts, set to an ebonised wooden stand, 30cm high, together with a novelty paperweight in the form of a pepper, 7.5cm high, a carved carnelian seal, 6.2cm high, a brass seal, 6.6cm high, a novelty paper clip in the form of a duck's head, 11cm long, a white metal teapot stand, a George III silver teaspoon and a white metal example, a circular brass trinket dish, a yellow metal pill box, and seven assorted decanter labels (22) Provenance: Ruyton Hall, ShropshireCondition Report; Cruet: Central pillar is loose, making the structure slightly wobbly when picked up. On a flat surface, the carousel is slightly wobbly, but the base is stable. Handle is secure. No cracks or losses to the stand.There is a large split to the cover of the smallest caster, and the beginnings of splits in a couple of the other pieces. There are several, very large fractures and losses to the bases. There are small chips and nibbles to the high points and facet edges of the cut glass. No large cracks or breakages to the glass bodies which render it unusable.
A late 19th century Russian silver and niello snuff box, of rounded rectangular form decorated with a chequered design, the cover depicting a troika driving carriage scene in a rural landscape, vacant cartouche to reverse, gilt interior, 84 standard and Moscow marks, assay marks for Viktor Vasilyevich Savinsky (date worn), 11cm x 6cm, weight 4.61oztCondition Report; Overall very good. There are a couple of dents to the cover, but no other denting, splitting or signs of repair. There is scratching, pitting and wear consistent with age, most notably around the cover and the cartouche on the reverse. Gilt interior shows moderate wear and scratching. Hallmarks are heavily worn. Hinged cover is in good order, opening and closing smoothly and sitting flush with the box.
A silver and enamel pill box, import marks for Cohen & Charles, London 1926, of circular form, decorated with black and cream enamel, the hinged cover depicting the silhouette a a man serenading a woman on a balcony, 4cm diameter, weight 35.2gmsCondition Report; Overall good. There is a small chip/loss to the enamel measuring about 2mm just below the hinge of the cover. No other chips or losses to the enamel on the covers or sides. Some scratching and general wear to the enamel. No denting, splitting, thinning or repair to the silver. Gilt to interior is heavily worn. Hinged cover opens smoothly and closes with a snap, but does leave a slight gap around the rim.
An Edwardian silver biscuit box by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths, London 1908, of straight sided, oval serpentine form and hinged cover, 14.5cm W x 10.2 D x 7.9cm H, weight 15.04oztCondition Report; Overall very good. There is one dent to the lip of the lid on the left hand side, but no other dents, splits or signs of repair. There is a moderate amount of scratching and some very light pitting concentrated around the base. The cover opens smoothly and closes flush. Hallmarks are worn.
A George III silver snuff box by William Boot, Birmingham 1809, of rectangular form with reeded decoration, hinged cover opening to reveal gilt interior, 6.1cm x 3.9cm, weight 56.9gms Condition Report; Overall condition is good. There are dents to three of the corners on the base, two of the corners around the top, and some further small dents to the edges. No splitting or signs of repair. Moderate scratching and some pitting, Some wear to the decoration, mostly concentrated around the lip of the rim and around the edges and corners.Moderate scratching and wear to the gilt interior. It appears the have some cleaning substance on it, possibly concealing damage to the interior gilt.Hinged cover in good order, opens and closes smoothly and sits flush. Hinge could be described as slightly floppy, more notable when closing. Hallmarks to lid show moderate wear.

An Aesthetic period 36-piece silver plated dinner service by Walker & Hall, circa. 1895, comprising eighteen forks and eighteen knives, each blade engraved with bamboo shoots, insects and floral motifs, the ivory handles carved as bamboo, forks 19.6cm long, knives 22.4cm long, within a three-tiered blue felt lined oak box (36) Provenance: Ruyton Hall, Shropshire Trevanion Auctioneers & Valuers do not ship items containing ivory outside the EU. Trevanion recommends that buyers check with their own government regarding any importation requirements prior to placing a bid. Moderate scratching and wear to exterior. Moderate wear to the gilt interior. Small inscription to top left corner of cover reading 'BANDO'. 'Dunhill London' to lip is crisp and clear. Cover opens smoothly and closes securely, but the cover is skewed and overhangs to the left slightly. Push button mechanism is slightly stiff, but is in working order.

A Victorian coromandel vanity box, opening to a fitted interior with two removeable trays, contents to include silver jar tops, silver topped bottles and button hook, above a single drawer, 15cm H x 21cm W x 19cm DCondition report; 4cm brass plate on the secret drawer is detached and damaged, with some damage above the drawer where it closes, it appears the drawer has been forced at some point, retaining mechanism on the drawer no longer works therefore remains extended by 3cm, minor chip to the bottom of the drawer, damage to both jar tops, some general scratching to the escutcheon, otherwise only minor general wear commensurate with age and use
WORLD WAR II NAVAL INTEREST: A silver cigarette case by Page, Keen & Page, Birmingham 1939, inscribed 'H. West H.M.S. "Escort" from 'Athenia' survivors 4.9.39', 8.1cm x 7cm, along with a George V silver cigarette box by William Comyns & Sons Ltd, London 1945, of rectangular form with three compartment hardwood interior, inscription to cover 'Commander and Mrs. West from the Commodore and Ward Room Officers R.N. Barracks Chatham 12th October 1946', 19.2cm x 8.7cm x 5.2cm, together with a silver cigarette case and a Ronson white metal lighter, 4cm x 3.5cm (3) This cigarette case appears to have been a gift of gratitude from the Survivors of the Athenia disaster to Commander H West of HMS Escort. Athenia was the first UK ship to be sunk by Germany during World War II after Britain declared war on Hitler on the 3rd September 1939. Just hours later, German submarine U-30 torpedoed the Athenia. Over 100 civilians lost their lives and the sinking was condemned as a war crime. H West aboard HMS Escort rescued some 300 passengers from the sinking Athenia and it appears that this case was gifted to him as a token of gratitude. Condition Report; Cigar box: Good order. Some light denting, but no splitting, thinning or signs of repair. Moderate scratching and wear to the exterior. lettering to cover is worn, but is clear and legible. Some scratching and wear to the wooden interior, but this is largely in good order. Moderate scratching and wear to the leather base.Cigarette case: Very heavy denting. No splitting or signs of repair. Some wear to the lettering on the front, but this is still crisp and legible. Push button mechanism is working, cover opens smoothly and closes flush with a snap. Heavy pulling to the internal elastic. Moderate scratching and wear to the gilt interior.Lighter: Currently not in working order.
A set of four Edwardian silver and enamel menu card holders by Sampson Mordan & Co, Chester, each individually enamelled with a game bird, depicting a duck, a grouse, a pheasant and a partridge, each on a plain polished circular base, three dated 1907 and marked '10', one dated 1908 and marked '11', each stamped 'RD402227', each 3.5cm high, complete in a fitted Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd case (at fault)Condition Report; There is a large crack/loss to enamel on the partridge example, measuring 12mm across - please see the picture provided which illustrated this. There is no loss to the enamel on any of the other examples. All enamel shows some scratching and light wear consistent with age and use.The example with the duck is slightly bent, leaning back further then the other examples. Please see the additional image which illustrates this. The clip to the partridge example is very slightly slick (the teeth do not sit completely flat against the panel), but all clips are secure and in working order. Each pieces some small denting and pitting concentrated around the borders. No splitting or repair to any of the metal.Hallmarks and dates are clear to the majority of pieces, however there is some wear to the Sampson Mordan hallmark on the grouse example. This is example is dated 1908.One of the hinges to the box cover is broken. There is heavy wear and tear to the case exterior. Some moderate wear to the interior, but the card holders sit securely in their settings.
An Edwardian silver cigarette box by Robert Pringle & Sons, London 1906, of rectangular form, engraved with the Star of the Order of the Thistle, enclosing a two-compartmented fruitwood interior, 17.6cm x 8.7cm x 5.5cm, weight 21.14ozt Provenance: Ruyton Hall, Shropshire The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle is an order of chivalry associated with Scotland. The current version of the Order was founded in 1687 by King James VII of Scotland (James II of England and Ireland) who asserted that he was reviving an earlier Order. The Order consists of the Sovereign and sixteen Knights and Ladies, as well as certain "extra" knights (members of the British Royal Family and foreign monarchs). The Sovereign alone grants membership of the Order; he or she is not advised by the Government, as occurs with most other Orders.

A George V silver and enamelled pill box by William Neale, Birmingham 1929, of circular form on three raised feet, with turquoise guilloche enamel decoration to hinged lid, 7.1cm diameter, together with an Art Deco silver mirror, marked for ?G Co? London 1933, 7.5cm diameter (2) Provenance: Ruyton Hall, ShropshireCondition Report: Trinket Box: Very good. No chipping or loss to the enamel, only light scratching. There is a light dent to the rim of base, but no other denting, splitting or repair. Hinged cover opens smoothly and closes flush. Some wear to the hallmarks, but they are legible. Feet are in good order, the box sits flat on a level surface. The gilt on the interior is in very good order, but there is moderate wear to the gilt around the rim consistent with contact with the lid.Mirror: Good order. Glass is in tact. Handle in good order Small dents to the reverse and around the border. Moderate amount of scratching. No signs of splitting or signs of repair. Engraved decoration has worn in some areas, but is mostly crisp. Hallmarks show some wear (particularly maker's marks) but are all legible.
