A BBC Exhibition Dalek from the promotion of the revived BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who. This version of the iconic alien was created for the BBC by Specialist Models, who were contracted to build two new models at the end of 2004. The outer shell of this Dalek was originally gold-coloured, and was subsequently refurbished and repainted black for the Doctor Who Up Close exhibition, held in several locations across the UK.The full-size model is constructed from a combination of cast resin and fibreglass, with grill detailing around the neck and hemispheres on the skirt. The body is predominantly black with a silver-coloured metal eye stalk, gun stick and an extendable plunger rod. The model is accompanied by an additional functional remote control box (powered by 8 AA batteries) and power unit, used to control the dome section's rotation, which was achieved via radio control servos.
