A set of three Raleigh Seal Electrotypes relating to Sir Walter Raleigh, by Elkington & Co., the silver plate on copper seals reproducing the Silver Seals of Office of Sir Walter Raleigh as Governor of Virginia, 1584, Warden of the Stannaries of Cornwall and Devon, 1585 and Governor of Jersey, 1600, each with impressed ltd. ed. no verso '481', contained in the original card box addressed to 'J. Rochelle Thomas, Antiquary, 11 King Street, St. James's S.W.', with newspaper cutting advertising their sale. * Condition: The seals have some wear to the plating showing the coper beneath. Some polish residue in recessed detail. The two smaller seals with a few tiny blisters to the plating verso. The card box with some edge wear but good overall. Hand written no. 481 in pencil to upper left of lid.
A rare German silver gilt singing bird music box automation, attributed to Karl Griesbaum, having London import marks for B.C.T Co Ltd, 1929, 925, in addition having various other part hallmarks, of serpentine chest form on four foliate scroll feet, extensively repousse decorated to the sides with cherubs at play in garden settings, the front having shaped vacant ribbon swag cartouche to centre and having a bird in flight as the stop - start controller, the back having hinged door opening to reveal void for keeping key, the top chased with cherubs with musical instruments beneath flowering trees, birds and a rabbit, centred by an oval cover depicting a cherub conducting, flanked by two singing birds, it opens revealing a bird with multi-coloured feathered plumage, moving and singing, rising from a grill, having original brass key fashioned as a bird, 4¼ x 2¾ x 1 78in. high (11.5 x 7 x 4.8cm.). * Condition: The movement and bellows working, the sound very good, the oval cover a bit sticky and does jam sometimes, the gilt mostly faded with loss of brightness, some nicks to edges, overall good and working.

The lid with secret catch, document wallet with makers name and mirror within, the silver items with marks for London 1824 and makers mark WP, the box 36.2cm wide x 26cm deep x 13.5cm high Condition: the box with minor marks, dents and scratches due to age and use, the lid with a piece of wire stringing to the left side missing, further stringing missing to the left hand side front of the box, the velvet lined interior in good condition considering its age, with two pairs of scissors, corkscrew and bodkin lacking, the other mother of pearl mounted fittings present and seemingly original, the hobnail cut jar bottom left with wear to the gilding and by maker GP but of the same date letter, the other items to include five matching scent bottles with unmarked mounts, two smaller scent bottles also with unmarked mounts, all in good condition except the lids sometimes slightly loose to the bottles, the remaining boxes and jars in good condition
