Edward VII silver repousse decorated ring box raised on four cabriole legs, the lid depicting pheasants in a landscape with distant buildings with fitted velvet interior. London, 1903. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Grubby and having overall surface wear. Minor dings and wear to repousse decoration. Hallmarks slightly worn.
A German silver hexagonal box with English import marks for London, 1898, cover chased with naked child digging, gilt interior of base chased with child warming herself by fire; another similar box, Dutch, with pseudo marks, pull-off cover chased with two children stirring a vat, base with two children with dog, circa 1900; and a Dutch oval double-lidded silver box with ropework swing handle, pseudo marks, chased with courting couples, figures in 18th century costume and putti, last item 5.5 cm. long, wt. 103 gm.Good condition.
A set of six silver bean-end coffee spoons, Birmingham, 1946 (cased); three more, Birmingham, 1947/8; a Continental white metal heart-shaped pill box stamped "925"; six pairs of silver-handled Queens pattern fruit knives and forks (cased), Sheffield, 1977; also a pair of Old Sheffield Plate wine coasters, circa 1820; and the following electroplated items:- a sauceboat, a bottle pourer/cork stopper, a Fiddle pattern soup ladle, a small dish and a pair of servers.All in good condition but coasters have a couple of small dings underneath edge of rims.
A late Victorian silver miniature playing cards box (lacks cards), by T. H. Hazlewood & Co., Birmingham, 1899, upright rectangular with arched cover, chased with flowers and foliate scrolls, cover centred by vacant reserve, interior with fixed dividing bar, 5.5 cm. high, wt. 41 gm.Overall good condition, does not shut entirely flush so would need minor hinge adjustment, couple of pinprick dings under base.
An Edwardian silver oblong snuff box by John Edward Wilmot, Birmingham, 1902, engraved to cover and base with foliate scrolls, cover centred by vacant circular reserve, plain sides, 5.7 cm. long; a Victorian scallop form purse with turquoise silk concertina lining, by Jacob Otto Schuler, London, 1882; a Continental box in the form of a tricorn hat with English import marks for London, 1895, chased with flowers, cover with two playful putti; a French silver circular pill box chased with rocaille decoration on hammered ground, gilt interior, circa 1900; and a German silver oval pill box, Hanau, circa 1900, cover chased with courting couple and dog watching over a herd of cows in rural setting, weighable silver (without purse) 110 gm. (5).All in good condition.
A good silver teapot of Queen Anne style by John Lodge Ltd., Sheffield, 1971, baluster form with domed cover and cut-card decoration around handle and spout, the latter terminating in an animal head, ebonised wood handle and finial, fluted scroll thumbpiece, 22.5 cm. high, in original fitted box, wt. 880 gm.Excellent condition, as new. Some marks and stains to outside of box.
A group of small silver comprising:- a curved rectangular silver card case, Birmingham, 1912, engraved with leaves, flowers and scrolls, 8.5 cm. long; a pair of small late Victorian shell salts on ball feet, Birmingham, 1900; an Edwardian cigarette holder case engraved with stylised foliage around a heart-shaped reserve, Birmingham, 1906; a plain circular pill box, Birmingham, 1919; a small circular vanity mirror, Birmingham, 1922, with double scroll surmount and suspension loop, back engraved with ribbon-tied swags; and a Victorian engine-turned rectangular vesta case by George Unite, Birmingham, 1867, with sprung cover and vacant cartouche, striking surface along each side, engraved lozenge and leafage to top and bottom, weighable silver 98 gm.All in good condition.
A late Victorian silver snuff box by Colen Hewer Cheshire, Birmingham, 1892, of shaped rectangular form with rounded ends, base engraved with profuse scrolling floral decoration and conforming thumbpiece, cover engraved with decorative "C" scrolls around vacant reserve, sides with undulating foliate panels, gilt interior, 8 cm. long, wt. 77 gm.Good condition.
A group of five chased silver heart-shaped pill boxes with gilt interiors, four late Victorian and one German, the English examples Chester, 1897; Birmingham, 1894, 1898 and 1900; the German one chased with a flautist serenading a shepherdess. Largest 4.5 cm. long, wt. 125 gm.The 1900 one has small hole worn through in cover, small ding to centre of cover on 1898 box, some wear to decoration of figures on German example.
A Chinese silver box, marked to base with Chinese character panel for maker, Li Wen Yu and his city, Chang Sha (Hunan Province), probably second half of 19th century, rectangular, cover chased in relief with mounted warriors attacking a walled city, sides engraved with panels of bees amongst flowers, latticework and rats amongst grapes, the latter symbolising fertility and longevity, cover with bat thumbpiece for good luck, 6 cm. long x 4.3 cm. wide x 2.4 cm. high, wt. 65 cm.Couple of small dings under base, small split to front right corner of cover, minor distortion to left side of cover, wear to faces of figures on cover.
A group of four small silver pill boxes comprising:- a late Victorian plain heart-shaped box with gilt interior, by Adie & Lovekin Ltd., Birmingham, 1900; a Continental circular box with English import marks for London, 1913, cover chased with mounted traveller asking directions from a tavern wench; a Continental oval box with relief-chased basket of flowers to cover and laurel-chased sides, gilt interior, indistinctly marked to rim; and a circular pill box by John Marshall Spink, London, 1896, cover and base each set with George IV sixpence dated 1826.Good condition.

Three Dutch silver perfume boxes comprising:- one octagonal, engraved with scrollwork panels, 1853; one maker's mark "R" with hammer above, 1893 and with English import marks for London, 1893, with bands of fleurs-de-lys and foliate motifs, small applied shield to front, lobed and beaded cover with chainwork rim; and one with maker's mark K22, 1869, cover with acorns, leaves and fruit applied to filigree scrollwork, sides engraved with floral and foliate reserves, wt. 80 gm.Overall good condition, first box has slight distortion to lower rim of cover.
