The sides of the box decorated with floral panels bordered with interlocking key patterns. On raised reticulated feet, with a rectangular four-character seal mark on base. Age: Qing dynasty Description: A fine Chinese green jadeite inlaid export silver box. The Chinese export silver box with 'chrysanthemum and butterfly' raised decoration on a stippled ground and set with a very good selection of apple green jadeite pierced and incised plaques, the whole raised on four elephant jadeite feet, engraved BENSABOTT SHOP CHICAGO on the base as well as 90 and two makers marks. Size: Height 2 3/4 inches 7 1/2 cm Width 3 1/2 inches 9cm Length 6 1/3 inches 16 cmProvenance: From a Montreal estateCondition: a Chinese silver export box with jadeite inlay, notably from the Bensabbot shop in Chicago, stamped with three hallmarks including one, “W.H”, likely belonging to the maker, Wang Hing the box is inlaid with eleven pieces of jadeite, including the jadeite elephant shaped feet. The jade all appears to be in perfect condition, the box does not have any visible damage in terms of dents, scrapes or wear which is unusual for its age, in fact the box appears to be in very good condition. There is a glue residue around the feet, possibly due to restoration efforts. The wooden inserts on the interior are all in perfect condition, although it is possible that some of the wooden inserts have been replaced to render the cigarette box functional for use, the gold wash to the interior maintains a nice colour, the jadeite plaque on the top has been carefully inspected with a flashlight and does not appear to have any damage whatsoever, perhaps some natural inclusions. The thickness of the jadeite plaque on the top is estimated between 4 and six millimeters, generally speaking the box is in very good condition for it's age. Age: early 20th century Description: comprising: a bracelet, ring, pair of earrings, a brooch, a clip and a necklace, each with openwork carved natural apple green jadeite medallions set in filigree worked silver. 17 Individual pieces of jadeite. Size: Longest 7 1/4", 18.40cm.Provenance: From The Pascal CollectionCondition: A suite of Chinese silver export jeweler with jadeite openwork. All of the jades appear to be intact with no damage and have been examined under light, the necklace still intact with original working clasp, the earrings are still intact and in wearable condition. The brooch is still in wearable condition, the tie clip is still in wearable condition with a spring that is still taught. The ring has a double band to be expandable and there is one side missing, therefore it is not in wearable condition. The bracelet with locking clasp still in good condition, clasp still holds firm, very slight loses to the filigree work are noticeable on one of the panels, otherwise the bracelet is in good condition. All of the pieces marked b-e-e and made in China, hallmarks impressed into the reverse.
