A fine City of London Chess Club prize presentation large ivory Staunton pattern chess set in box, 32 unusually large and high quality turned and carved ivory chess pieces, one half natural, the other stained red, king 11.6cm, pawn 5.3cm, all in excellent condition, housed within an oak box with applied silver hallmarked plaque engraved with coat of arms and motto of The City of London "Domine Dirige Nos", and with details "City of London Chess Club, Prize Presented by the President, December 1891, Won by Camille Moriau" CONDITION: The felt to the red queen has possibly been replaced, but there are no signs of restoration or repaired pieces, and the set appears to be little used.
