A collection of more than 90 classical LPs on a range of labels which includes a number of box sets and 10 LPs. Included are two highly collectable LPs; SAX 2306 and SAX 2306 and SAX 2339, both of which are on the earliest Blue/Silver labels. The sleeves of both are in excellent condition and the vinyl also appears to be in excellent condition
WORLD WAR TWO, GROUP OF FOUR 1939-1945 Star, Air Crew Europe Star, France and German clasp, Defence Medal and War Medal, ribbon bar with silver rosette of 1061389 SJT J Y MCCARROLL RAF with his Royal Air Force Observers and Air Gunners Flying Log Book with entries from October 1940 to January 1945 (including 22nd June 1943 a flight under the Tay Bridge in a Defiant piloted by Sjt Wryowlski that Sjt McCarroll described as "a mad pole"), fibre tags, medal enclosure slip and RAF Record Office letter (both referenced with the recipient's service number) and the medals of his father comprising British War Medal and Victory Medal, 14-15350 PTE J MCCARROLL R IR RIF, lid of card box, RIR Record Office enclosure slip dated 13 October 1922 and copy of a photograph of the recipient. Provenance: The recipient, thence by descent to the present vendor. Rifleman James McCarroll of 14th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, known as the Belfast Young Citizens Battalion, died on 24 March 1918, aged 22, Pozieres Memorial, France. He was the son of William John and Mary McCarroll. Although he was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, it appears it was never claimed. James McCarroll was one of three brothers, three bothers in law, two cousins and four nephews who survived in the Great War, of which he was the only one to die
