Royal Wiltshire Militia 19th Century Field Officer’s epaulettes A fine and rare pair of the 1830 box pattern. The silvered crescent on each one supports fine twist wire tassels. The strap is decorated with silver embroidery of acorns and oak leaves and is mounted with a large Bath Star; within the crescent a padded cushion embroidered with an entwined VR Cypher; each retaining silvered regimental button. The base is of red leather with silvered clip stamped with the retailer’s name of John Jones 6 Regent Street. Some age wear, silver toned and some wear to the tassels. John Jones operated with this trade name 1832-1868.

He is shown wearing scarlet coatee, with box pattern, silver bullion epaulettes. To is collar can be clearly seen, shamrock embroidery. Signed F. Robinson.
