A George IIl snuff box; parcel gilt, rounded rectangular; the hinged cover with an interior tavern scene; the sides with cast fruiting and foliate border; scroll engraved to base. London1819 by James Fenton. 7.3 x 4.3cm. 2.65 oztThese are all small incisions into the silver on the cover, these are visilbe on the photograph online. There is another one to the right hand side of the box, which is not visible from the photograph. The relief scene is somewhat rubbed, and the gilding is worm at the closure and to the corners. The gilding on the interior is in good order and the hallmarks are clear.Overall the box has wear and surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and use.
