Two fine Japanese bronze vases, Showa, 20th C. H.: 24,5 cm - 14,5 cmÊ The globular 'white bronze’ vase signed Tsuda Eiju (1915-2001), dating to ca. 1970. Although hakudõ literally means white bronze, the colour is more identical to silver and is therefore mainly used in the jewellery industry. Tsuda Eiju is one of the few bronze artists who have used this material in making flower vases. As the son of the Imperial artist Tsuda Daiju (1875-1946), who was a professor at the Tokyo school of fine Arts, Tsuda Eiju is considered a most influential Japanese bronze caster of the second half of the 20th century. The vase comes with its signed and sealed tomobako (original wooden storage box).Ê The taller tsurubuki or 'crane neck' vase signed Yoshihisa Ya.
