A Limited Edition musical 'Faberge Firebird Egg' by Franklin Mint, the silver gilt egg with blue guilloche enamel decoration, scrolling gilt branches set with rubies, opening to reveal silver gilt and enamel figural fire bird, all set to a silver gilt base, 16.5cm high, with a 14ct gold diamond and enamel feather brooch, 35mm long, complete in fitted box with certificateCR; The catch of the egg is in working order, opening smoothly and closing securely, however the egg does not sit flush. Several areas of chipping and loss around the gilt borders. Enamel shows general scratching, wear and tear commensurate with age and use. One of the rubies is missing. General wear, tear and light fraying to the red velvet lining. Central bird figure is in good order, showing general scratching, wear and tear, but no signs of significant damage or repair. Brooch is in good order, general scratching and wear throughout, but all stones are present and in tact and there are no significant losses to the enamel. Scratching, wear and tear to the gilt on the base, but no signs of significant damage or repair. Possible signs of glue repair around the base of of the tree stump. Base does wobble slightly on a level surface. The musical mechanism is in working order, though it does make a clicking sound whilst playing. Please see pictures for illustration. Import marks to base for London 1987.
