A silver-gilt box to commemorate the marriage of Mohammed Reza Pahlari of Persia (reg.1925-41) and Princess Fawzia Bint Fuad of Egypt Made by AH Naguib Bey, Paris, dated 1939, the oval box having cast floral decoration surrounding a crown and initials MF with inscription to interior, with hallmarks and impressed A H Naguib Bey to base complete with Egyptian silver coins of King Farouk (father of the bride) and further related coins including five yellow metal Egyptian and Persian coins, also a wedding invitation booklet with handwritten inscriptions. A similar box sold for £15,600 at Bonhams, 25th October 2007, fitted in original box, length 12.5cm. NB: The wedding took place at the Abedin Palace, Cairo on 16th March 1939 and another ceremony was held at the Gulestan Palace, Tehran on 25th April 1939. On the 15th March, Fawzia became an Iranian national and was granted the title of Princess (Shahdockht) with the style of Her Inperial Highness. The marriage lasted until 1948 and produced one daughter, Princess Shahnaz Pahlavi.
