All the train bearers were unmarried daughters of nobility. The brooches were designed by Prince Albert and ordered of R & S Garrard. They were made by Charles Du Vé, a London jeweller. After the wedding ceremony, each train bearer was gifted one of the brooches in a blue velvet box. For comparison, examples of the brooch can be seen at Kensington Palace, The British Museum and Hatfield House, Herts. Note: Keys are not stating that the brooch is one of the 12 as described above, however, the current owner is the great great great grand-daughter of Sir Henry Tate, the present example may have passed through the family by descent to the current owner from this source. Condition Report:Ruby eye missing. Small diamond missing from beak. Lead solder pin fitting. Part of the setting missing from top right wing. No original case. Pin hole to verso please see images.
