CONTINENTAL SILVER-PLATED REPOUSSE FIGURAL BOX, 19TH CENTURY of cube form, each side featuring a different repousse scene on animalistic feet, a medallion is used to open the box and a small visible keyhole that is no longer in use, the interior of the box is empty and unlined, the recto panel scene features a woodland scene with couples listening to music in a cartouche, the top panel scene features a chaotic village scene, the right scene features a couple in a woodland scene with a cherub in a cartouche, the verso panel scene features a chaotic wooden scene with intertwining nude figures in a cartouche, the left panel scene features two nude women sitting at a wooded river bank with two cherubs, each cartouche surrounded by a continuous motif of a laurel leave vine. dimensions: 14 x 17 cm (5 1/2 x 6 3/4 in.); total weight: 1.25 kg (44.09 oz.) CONDITION In age-appropriate condition. Overall tarnishing and darkening has occurred between the repousse figural groups.
