A French flintlock pistol for the Levantine market, by Berthon-Bourlier et fils Aine, St Etienne,circa 1820 with sighted barrel formed in two stages and chiselled with a trophy-of-arms in relief over the length of the breech, engraved barrel tang, signed engraved lock (top-jaw replaced), wooden full stock profusely decorated with complex patterns of white metal wire foliage and border ornament, full silver mounts cast and chased in relief, and horn-tipped wooden ramrod: in a modern fitted case; a pair of American percussion travelling pistols by V.Libeau, Birmingham proof marks, with octagonal barrels inscribed 'London' and inlaid with a silver line, German silver box-lock side-hammer actions signed on the breech and engraved with foliage, chequered figured walnut butts, each with engraved German silver trap with engraved steel cover, engraved steel trigger-guards, iron belt hooks and stirrup ramrods the first: 35cm; 13.75in (3)

Funk and Sohne in Suhl, no.1833,circa 1858-65 with octagonal sighted barrels with differing rifled bores and signed in silver within a frame of scrollwork on the rib (acid-cleaned, back-sight missing), engraved breech tang, engraved locks signed in gold and decorated with differing game vignettes picked-out in gold, fitted with gravity-stops (hammers missing), figured walnut half-stock, the fore-end carved with a monster's head with inlaid eyes and horn mouth for the ramrod aperture, chequered grip and fore-end each carved with scrollwork in low relief, the butt decorated with a carved stag vignette behind the cheek-piece and fitted with sliding patch-box cover carved with a grotesque mask, carved horn trigger-guard, engraved steel butt-plate, one adjustable and one conventional trigger, and white metal escutcheon engraved with a stag (ramrod missing) 73.4cm; 28.875in barrels
