A Chinese Silver Gilt and Enamel Box, early 20th century, of rectangular form, filigree decorated with flowers and scrolls, the hinged cover set with a carnelian carved as Buddha, stamped SILVER, 11cm wide See illustration. Some typical surface scratching. Minimal damage to enamel. Small area of damage to textured ground, approx 3mm x 2mm. Gross weight 260 grams.
~ A George III Silver Toothpick-Case, by Samuel Pemberton, Birmingham, 1789, oblong and with cut corners, engraved with foliage and initials, probably 'AJC', the interior velvet lined, 8cm long, gross weight 19dwt, 30gr. Fully marked on base. There is some minor wear to the marks, though each is still legible. The box is in generally good and crisp condition though with some very minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is a shallow bruise on the cartouche. There is some wear to the velvet inside.
