The last true analogue BMW sports car? Just 41,000 miles, full service history and original bill of saleA smart, first-generation S50-engined Roadster with the 316bhp, 3.2-litre inline-sixUK-supplied, right-hand drive model in Arctic Silver Metallic with Black/Estoril Blue Nappa leatherJust 41,000 miles, only two former keepers, full service history, original bill of sale, and a matching hardtopThe M-Sport spec included a limited-slip differential, a wider rear track and larger brakesZ3 M-Roadster and Coupe are considered the last analogue BMW sports carsThe original BMW M Coupé and BMW M-Roadster are high-performance models of the BMW Z3 coupés/roadsters produced by BMW between 1998 and 2002.The Z3 was the first modern mass-market roadster produced by BMW, as well as the first new BMW model to be assembled in the BMW Spartanburg plant in the US, with some major components - such as the engine and transmission - being imported from Germany. The Z3 was introduced as a 1996 model year vehicle, shortly after being featured in the James Bond movie 'Goldeneye'. While the film was number one at the box office, sales of the car peaked, and it was sold out by the time the car was launched. The Z3's design was a tad contentious at the time, it seemed that the market wasn't quite ready for such an Avant-Garde styling exercise from conservative BMW, but today the distinctive styling is regarded as a real virtue. The length of the bonnet and the short rear-end are complimented by swooping wheel-arches and side-vents, plus its purposeful yet comfy cockpit feels like a nice place to be.However, it wasn't until 1999, when BMW installed the performance version of one of the most beloved six-cylinder engines in the car industry, the 3.2-version of the S50 engine from the E36 M3, giving 316bhp at 7,400rpm 260 lb-ft of torque, that the Z3 became an interesting driver's car. The Z3M could now sprint to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 155 mph, aided by uprated suspension, an LSD, a wider track, and larger brakes, all combining to create a proper sports car experience. Today, these cars possess a real feeling of integrity and a distinctive 'old-school' charm; UK's Top Gear declared it 'the best handling car in the business.'Apart from the engine transplant and performance upgrades, the interior of the Z3M received a mild-makeover too and bits of chrome were added, plus a host of 'M' upgrades to differentiate the Z3M from the standard car. With instant response from its naturally aspirated performance engine and a throaty growl from its quad exhausts, the Z3M is now considered as the last bastion of proper BMW sports cars. Today, the Roadster is appreciated for its timeless design, with these special cars now becoming rarer and much sought-after.The car presented here is a particularly fine example, in Arctic Silver Metallic, with just 41,000 miles, only two former keepers, a full-service history, its original Bill of Sale, and its rare matching hardtop. Our vendor searched high and low for the right Z3M, intending it as a gift for his wife, and came across this car, which had been cherished by its first owner, was always garaged, used sparingly and was in very original and genuine condition. With thorough servicing and MOT records to verify the low mileage, it's accompanied by its full original BMW book-pack and many receipts supporting the service history (reassuringly, this includes an invoice for the brilliant yet sometimes fragile VANOS unit being changed by BMW). In splendid condition all round, we imagine that it would be difficult to find a better example of these spirited little German roadsters. You can now book a one to one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location between 16th and 30th July. **Sale Room Announcement** The car has aminor clutch issue, vendor has agreed to have it repaired immediatley following sale at his expense.Well restored, matching numbers, overdrive box, Mk 2 with a distinct Coombs influence.Finished in Opalescent Blue with French Blue hide and looks fabulousFitted with Coombs-style arches, louvred bonnet, painted wires and S/S exhaustElectronic ignition, high torque starter, sports manifold, handling kit, poly-bushedOriginal reg number. Comprehensive history file, Heritage Certificate, numerous invoices, photographs of the rebuild and spare keysOne of the nicest Mk2s we have seen for a long timeYour earliest inspection is encouraged and welcomedThe 2.4 saloon of 1955 had been a major step for Jaguar, marking as it did the change from a coachbuilt chassis to one of unitary construction; it was a necessary move, however, Jaguar being aware there was a strong market for a more compact saloon than the big Mk IX. Powered by a 2,482cc version of the superb twin-cam straight-six XK engine first seen in the XK120, the 2.4 offered luxury, performance and value for money. Using coil spring/wishbone front and semi-elliptic spring rear suspension, it possessed fine road manners and proved a great success, both on and off the track, particularly when the Mk1, as it subsequently became known, became available with the 3.4-litre engine in February 1957.It was in October 1959 that the Mk 2 version appeared, making a good car even better. Similar in appearance but with a much larger glass area, it boasted a wider rear track to improve roadholding together with minor front suspension changes to reduce body roll and all-round disc rather than drum brakes. Engine options included the 120bhp 2.4-litre, the 210bhp 3.4-litre and, for the first time the 220bhp 3,781cc unit of the Mk IX.Having enjoyed considerable success as a racing driver, most notably in Formula 1, John Coombs retired from racing to concentrate on running his Guildford-based Jaguar dealership. He race-prepared cars for himself and other drivers gaining particular success with Jaguar Mk 2 saloons, engineering considerably faster and more reliable cars than the standard examples.Pleasingly still sporting its original registration number, and looking absolutely delightful, '1856 RH' is finished in Opalescent Blue with French Blue Hide and sits on black-painted painted wire wheels with 3-eared spinners. It's a matching-numbers, manual box with overdrive car and has just benefitted from a total ground-up restoration to the very highest of standards. It's been professionally presented to reflect the influence that John Coombs had on the Mk 2 market back in the day and upgraded during the process to enhance the driving experience wherever possible. Coombs-style rear arches have been employed in conjunction with a louvred bonnet (note the correct amount of louvres stamped) to aesthetically lift the car, whilst mechanically the detailed engine bay, complete with a Coombs of Guildford plaque secreted away, houses electronic ignition, a high torque starter, sports manifold and a Coombs-style, Bell Stainless Steel Exhaust. The underside of the vehicle is also gleaming and fully detailed, set off by a Harvey Bailey Handling Kit and Poly-bushed suspension.Internally the Reuter reclining seats have been fully retrimmed in leather together with the door cards, new carpets and replacement headlining, as well as newly veneered woodwork and a period-style wood-rimmed steering wheel for a sportier feel.Accompanied by a comprehensive history file, its Heritage Certificate, numerous invoices, photographs of the rebuild and spare keys, this stunning Mk 2 is a testament to the craftsmen that have given this particular Jaguar a new lease of life. Now ready to be enjoyed once again, out on the open road and chatting to fellow enthusiasts about that special Coombs Jaguar look. I don't think for one minute that John Coombs, whilst popping a few louvres into the bonnet of his Mk2 to keep it a bit cooler, would have imagined that 60 years later, enthusiasts are talking about his creation in hushed tones. You can now book a one to one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location between 16th and 30th July. The Generation GT Collection, five Astons from across the decades.Supplied in Aston Racing Green with Parchment leather by JCT600, Leeds on 17/02/2002The car has had over £22,000 of maintenance and servicing works from newPart of the Generation GT Collection offered by our enthusiast vendor who bought the car in 2015With some 18,766 miles (atoc) the service book shows the last service less than 300 miles agoThe history file includes the metal covered service book and reams of receiptsPresented to auction with the incredibly rare and complete glove-box mounted accessory packAston Martin returned to the James Bond franchise in the 2002 film Die Another Day starring Pierce Brosnan as the eponymous secret agent. The film showcased the Vanquish's brutish good looks, cutting edge engineering and incredible performance. The Vanquish was built in two versions, a two-seater and what became known as the '2+2' with a couple of child-friendly rear seats filling the space that in the two-seater was occupied by a shelf for a golf bag or other luggage. Aston Martin's first power unit of its type, the 6.0-litre, 48-valve, V12 engine developed 460bhp at 6,800rpm, with 400lb/ft of torque available at 5,500 revs. A pleasing blend of up-to-the-minute technology and traditional materials, the interior was dominated by an imposing aluminium centre console extending from fascia to transmission tunnel. Connolly leather upholstery, Wilton carpeting and quilted Alcantara headlining emphasised its Aston Martin heritage for, despite its advanced specification, the Vanquish was built like all other Astons before it, one at a time and by hand. Production ceased in 2007, by which time the model had been upgraded as the Vanquish 'S' and the UK list price had risen to over £185,000.Supplied by JCT600 in February 2002, the Aston Martin Racing Green paintwork is complemented by Fern Green upper trim, Parchment Lower trim and Fern Green carpeting with Parchment Alcantara headlining. The service book shows fourteen main dealer and specialists stamps. Invoices show this Vanquish has had nothing but the very finest care with over £22,000 worth of maintenance and servicing despite the low mileage of some 18,766 at the time of cataloguing. Our vendor purchased the car in 2015 noting the rarity of the colour combination having seen too many examples of the Vanquish in "Bond Silver".The car presents very well and features the incredibly rare and complete glove-box mounted accessory pack which includes a branded metal-bound notebook, tyre pressure gauge, a Leatherman-type multi-tool and torch all in a fitted casement. The history file is extensive and includes the aforementioned invoices and the service book notes the last service on 11 September 2019 at 18,479 miles with an MOT Certificate valid until November 2020 together with the V5C. Further included are a fitted car cover and battery conditioner. You can now book a one to one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location between 16th and 30th July. Homologation special from the golden age of Touring Cars, owned by a British motor racing legend.UK-supplied, right-hand drive 190E 2.5-16V presented in outstanding conditionOffered with two large box-files of history supporting the current mileage of c120,000Presented in sparkling Astral Silver paintwork with virtually unmarked black leather interiorOwned in the 1990's by Stuart Graham, British motorsport legend, saloon car racer and a TT winner on two wheels and fourA great opportunity to own a fine example of a 'homologation special' from the golden age of Group A Touring Car racingOffered here is a lovely UK supplied 190E 2.5-16v first registered on 17th September 1990. Presenting beautifully in Astral Silver with a virtually unmarked black leather interior, it is clear to see that this example has been well looked after over the years. Accompanying the car are two lever-arch files full of history which detail the maintenance and care this car has received including a complete record of ownership. In the mid-90s, the Mercedes was owned by British motor racing legend, Stuart Graham, the only man to win an Isle of Man TT on two wheels and four.Forming part of a private collection of interesting sports cars owned by a highly respected client of Silverstone Auctions and only offered due to lack of use, this particular 190E performs as well as it looks. In fact, the car belies the total mileage covered of 120,000. Documented within the paperwork was a speedometer change at c50,000 miles, the current reading is 64,165 and the original speedometer forms part of the sale.In summary, this is a great example of a 'homologation special' from the golden age of 'Group A' Touring Car racing. Motorsport enthusiasts world-wide have extremely fond memories of watching these mighty Mercedes-Benz racing saloons battle with the nimble BMW E30 M3 and powerful Ford Sierra Cosworths of the era making a great championship and exciting viewing. A great-looking, collectable, fun to drive car should be on all enthusiast's shopping list but, look no further, as here is a great example very sensibly guided. You can now book a one to one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location between 16th and 30th July. A right-hand-drive SVR with just 2,720 miles from newThe SVR is a lighter, faster and sharper version of Jaguar's F-Type R All-Wheel Drive5-litre supercharged V8 producing 567bhp and 516lb.ft. 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and 200mphEight-speed automatic transmission by Special Vehicle Operations and split-bias 4-wheel driveUnique SVR seats with Lozenge Quilt pattern, suede cloth-covered instrument binnacle and centre console, SVR steering wheel and anodized aluminium paddlesTitanium and Inconel exhaust system offers a fabulous 'harder-edged' soundIn Corris Grey Metallic and presents as you would expect for what is essentially a car still being run in!This is a VAT qualifying car so 20% needs to be added to the Hammer PriceIn the same month that the F-Pace SUV became the fastest-selling Jaguar of all time, the F-Type arrived in 'Supercar 'territory. Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016, the F-Type SVR was a lighter, faster and sharper version of Jaguar's F-Type 'R' All-Wheel Drive. It was powered by the same 5-litre supercharged V8 but now produced 567bhp at 6,500 rpm and a remarkable 516lb.ft of torque at 3,500rpm, with all this power transferred to the road through a Special Vehicle Operations - developed, eight-speed automatic transmission and split-bias 4-wheel drive. The SVR was now a seriously quick motor car with 0-62mph in a tad less than 3.5 seconds and a genuine 200 mph available, however, the external differences from the F-Type R were stylish and subtle with a new aerodynamics package that included a new front bumper, splitter, flat undercarriage, rear venturi and an active rear wing that rises at 70mph. What wasn't quite so subtle was the new Titanium and Inconel quad-pipe exhaust system which was a full 16kg lighter but featured valves that open at 2,500rpm generating a distinctive metallic bark that will rattle windows and upset the neighbours. You don't have to use full throttle and it is possible to progress in a civilised manner, but the option is there! However, more impressive than the increased power output is the way the SVR conducts itself. We quote from a recent Road Test in Classic Car Magazine;"Yet more impressive than the raw speed is the way it's delivered. The smaller-engined, rear-drive F-types regularly trouble their electronic stability systems, but in four-wheel-drive SVR form traction is outrageous. Off the line the Jag just grips and goes, and the same applies when putting the power down early out of a corner: it's composed, controlled and deeply impressive. The beautifully weighted steering filters out any semblance of kickback, yet retains far more feedback than most modern systems, with delicious accuracy. Switch to 'Dynamic' mode and the car gets stiffer, harder and more focused, the smooth auto 'box serving up immediate, aggressive changes when commanded by the steering wheel-mounted paddles.Yet although there's grip and body control enough to ensure that your passenger will need the large grab handle, it's delivered without the back-breaking ride you might expect, particularly when you switch to 'Normal' - but then Jaguar always was a master of chassis that blended balance and suppleness."Inside the cockpit is truly state of the art and indications that you are in the SVR include very handsome quilted leather covering seats and door panels. The stitched shapes take the form of the 'Jaguar Heritage' lozenge, a subtle nod to the racing DNA of the brand and a lovely touch. There's also an SVR steering wheel and the contrast double stitching on the seating and door handles mirrors the car's external colour. This superb F-type SVR is on offer from the SA30 collection and dates from the 31st of March 2017. It's finished in Corris Grey Metallic with a black leather interior piped and double stitched in silver grey and sits on a set of bespoke SVR Satin Black/diamond cut, 20" alloys sitting in front of yellow 'Carbon Ceramic' brake calipers.According to the Bill of Sale from Lancaster Jaguar, Sevenoaks, the cost new was £115,696 including £12,340 of extras. Those factory-fitted options include a premium leather interior with twin stitching, 3-spoke leather steering wheel, premium-leather and suede-wrapped instrument panel with piping, dark brushed-Aluminium centre console trim, Panoramic glass roof, Climate Pack 2 F-Type, automatic climate control, Meridian 380W sound system with 10 speakers, 'InControl' secure, Blind spot monitoring/closing vehicle sensor/reverse traffic detection, body-colour door mirrors, bonnet louvres, power tailgate, Carbon-fibre rear spoiler, Carbon Ceramic brake pack and forged F-Type SVR wheels. The current mileage is 2,720 and the Online Service History indicates that it was serviced on 22/06/2018 @2,163 miles(16,000-mile service) and on 15/08/2019 @ 2594 miles (32,000 miles/24 months). On both occasions, the work was carried out by Lancaster Tonbridge. The Jaguar is accompanied by its V5C, Book Pack and Owner's Handbook. As you might expect from an SA30 Collection car, it's absolutely pristine and totally immaculate. Obviously, it's not brand new but, at 2,720 miles with two services and totally cossetted, you would have a job to tell and we would recommend an appointment to view to confirm this for yourself. You can now book a one to one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location between 16th and 30th July.
