A French dragoon’s brass helmet, c 1830, tall brass skull with front and back peaks, leather backed wire loop chinchain with rayed ear roundels, “frosted” ear to ear plate and back band, the front embossed with a large grenade in wreaths, tall comb with Medusa head finial and palm wreath in front, and inverted tear drop embossed side panels, red (faded) “shaving brush” plume in holder, black hair crest and tail plume, white feather side plume, leather and cloth liner (replaced).
