A set of six pairs of plated fish knives and forks, with a case, a set of six plated pastry forks with a pastry server, with a case, a set of six small knives, with a box, a plated dish, a plated egg cup, a small bell, modelled as a policeman's helmet and a silver bladed mother of pearl folding fruit knife, Sheffield 1927.
An attractive wool and silk tapestry fragment, depicting The Virgin and Child seated in a meadow crowned by Angels with a victory wreath, flanked by two female figures, on the left apparently emblematic of Military Victory wearing a helmet, carrying a shield and a cross and offering a chalice, on the right emblematic of Naval Victory, holding an anchor and a parrot, a small servant in foreground in a short tunic bearing a tray of fruit, various animals and plants in foreground, a castle in a landscape in background. Flemish late 16th century, 22in. x 22in. 56cm. x 56cm. Restorations. This lunette-shaped fragment is possibly from the middle of a tapestry with a wide grotesque or other decorative surround or one of several such panels arranged in registers. Details extensively worked in yellow, cream and other silks. Framed

An Edward VII presentation light cavalry type sword for best swordsman, straight fullered blade 35” by Robt Mole & Sons, Birmingham, Makers to the War and India Offices, numbered M4652 on the backstrap, and etched with crowned ERVII cypher and “Presented by Lt Col Sir William Baird, Bart, to Sergt John E B Cowper, D Squadron, Lothians and Berwickshire Imperial Yeomanry, as Best Swordsman in the Regiment at Annual Training, July 1902” heavy triple bar silver plated hilt, the bars formed as oak sprays, wirebound sharksking grip, ornamental backstrap and pommel with yeomanry helmet and oak leaves, in its plated scabbard. ANCIENT COINS, Roman Imperial Silver, Vitellius (AD 69), Denarius 3.30g, A VITELLIVS IMP GERMAN, laureate head right, rev CONSENSVS EXECITVM sic, Mars wearing cloak and helmet striding left holding spear and aquila with vexillum (not in RIC; not in BMCRE). Fine and very rare. Exciting confirmation of a very rare coin. This coin is recorded, cf RIC note to 23 discussing BMCRE's refererence to just one other specimen which was studied in 1799. Nevertheless RIC refers to BMCRE's reference, note to 84, only to dismiss it a misreading of the variant FIDES EXERCITVM.
