A pair of Regency mahogany hall chairs, circa 1815, attributed to Gillows, each stylised shield shaped back surmounted by a carved knight's helmet, flanked on each side by a griffin head terminal, each shaped solid seat incorporating reeded detail and above a shaped and moulded frieze, on turned tapering reeded legs For a closely related pair of hall chairs see Christies, King Street, 22nd April 2004, Lot 124 (£16,730), see also Christies South Kensington, 2nd May 2002 (£5975) for another related pair.
A collection of Japanese lacquered and composition head Gosha dolls, including three Musha Samurai, c.1900-1920 Condition:- white haired samurai doll - damage to head with loss to some of the hair and other rubbing, comes with composition hat, costume heavily faded and worn with some losses, hands missing and now wrapped in tissue, short sword present, feet crudely carved wood with black cloth covering, 30cm- kneeling samurai with raised arm - very minor scuffing to head, costume a little faded but better than the other, weapon from his hand appears to be missing although he does come with three swords, 28cm- large boy doll in apricot robes - good condition, ears pierced through the ear holes, costume a little faded, all fingers and toes intact, overall very good, 49cm- half model samurai - some wear to the head, hands missing and covered in tissue, costume faded, three weapons present, 24cm- Samurai helmet with orange braiding - good condition, no obvious at which of the figures it matches- small wrapped baby doll - fabric faded, worn and torn to one side, hair rubbed, 10cm- boy doll in blue / green costume - face very dirty, rubbing to top of head where hair has pulled away, crack running up from side of neck into the right ear, costume faded, hands dirty, feet rubbed, 31cm- Boy doll in blue / green chequer outfit - minor wear to head, face very dirty, small pierced holes to ears, fingers intact, feet dirty and a little worn, costume faded, 32cm- pale green outfit doll - face dirty, ears not pierced, costume faded, does not have arms but does have cotton reels from the sides so perhaps is meant to work as a pin cushion doll, it does have feet which have worn toes, 38cm
German Army Southern Front M-40 Steel Combat Helmet, interesting example of a M-40 pattern steel combat helmet which retains the original German army single decal which can be seen under the camouflaged paint finish which is in a light colour, not quite tropical, but probably for Southern France or Southern Russia. Interior of the helmet retains its original leather liner, this has worn and has damage in places. Part of the leather chinstrap also remains to the helmet. Shell is stamped “ET64” and “4000”.
Framed Display of Obsolete Police Badges, including black George VI Bucks Constabulary helmet plate, EIIR Metropolitan Police helmet plate, EIIR Kent Constabulary helmet plate and EIIR West Midlands Police helmet plate. Other cap, collar badges, rank pips and long service medal (can not read the name around edge). All mounted in a glazed display frame. We have not removed from the frame and inspected the rear of the badges, sold as shown.
